Yale Daily News published article about Nathan’s acceptance.

Figure skater Nathan Chen touts Yale acceptance on Instagram
And there you have it:
Kimberly Wei ’20, who placed 28th in ice dancing in the 2016 World Junior Figure Skating Championships, said that although she welcomes Chen’s apparent decision to come to Yale, she is “confused” about why the skater has decided to attend college at the peak of his career. Wei, also a pre-med student, said she had to end her competitive skating career after coming to Yale.

“I’m very curious about what his future plans are going to be,” Wei said.

I’m sure he will have a coach of some sort in CT with Raf primarily calling the shots and trips back to CA on breaks for tuning. With technology these days, video etc I think Raf can still provide oversight and send training plans, etc. I’m sure if things start to slip, they will adjust as needed. It’s ambitious, but I feel like it can work.

I've noticed a lot of fan accounts for Nathan popping up on Instagram, and many young girls crushing on him too. He is proving to be very good for the sport, in my opinion, so I hope he's able to stick with it. Whatever he decides, I'm so proud of him for getting into Yale! :cheer2:

(ETA that a Naples Daily News SOI article last week mentioned he would like to major in economics and take pre-med. courses.)

Listen to the young ladies screaming during Nathan's performances lol! Who knew the tiny cutie pie from "Peter and the Wolf" would grow up to be a heartthrob? :D

From the clips I've seen, Nathan can get his sexy and funky on quite well, thank you:cool: So much for those skating "fans" who think he is just a one-dimensional backward crossovers and jump skater.:blah:

Nathan did a phone interview for Stars on Ice before the 4/14/18 Providence, Rhode Island show: http://www.providencejournal.com/en...n-among-skaters-coming-to-ri-for-stars-on-ice
Excerpts:
This is Chen’s first time being part of the cast for the touring ice show. Last year, he was a guest skater responsible for two numbers. Being part of the cast means he is part of every number in the show, which he finds is a learning experience and a time to hone his performance skills in the competition off-season.
“The programs are pretty similar but in competition, you’re focused on points. In a show, you’re just performing so there’s the freedom to try new things,” Chen says in a phone interview from Orlando. “It helps you learn how to perform better.”
“We do tone it down in the show program because the body needs time to recover,” he says. “But I’ll throw in some bigger jumps and I’ll be trying difficult things here and there. I have a number of things I can continue improving on. Nothing I’ve done is perfect.”
That said, Chen explains the “pursuit of perfection is good to strive for,” which explains his serious on-ice demeanor during competitions.
“You get this burst of adrenaline before going on the ice,” he says. “It’s pretty magical when the lights are on.”

He has 2 more trips to Japan coming up this summer:

"Nagano Olympic and Paralympic 20th Anniversary Project Heroes & Future 2018" shows, June 8-10 in Nagano: http://www.sunrisehokuriku.co.jp/schedule/kdschartist.php?id=7457

"Dreams on Ice" shows, July 6-8 in Yokohama: http://www.onice.jp/DOI18/guests.html (he was invited to this one last year)

ETA that he's also headlining the Saturday, July 21st ice show in Sun Valley, Idaho: https://www.sunvalley.com/things-to-do/ice-shows

New Icenetwork article about Team Raf: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/2018/04/18/272677196
Arutunian said he and Chen, who have worked together seven years, discussed some possibilities during the three days Chen skated in Lakewood last week during a break in the Stars on Ice tour.

"It looks like he wants to do both (study and skate), and he's smart enough, (so) if he understands it won't work, he will do something," Arutunian said. "He doesn't want to look bad at competitions.

"Summer time, he definitely wants to spend with me, and that will give us three months of hard work. He asked if I might be able to go there (to the Yale area) before competitions, maybe (for) six or 10 days."

Nick McCarvel has nominated Nathan as Icenetwork’s person of the year. His article includes new quotes about Olympics, worlds & the future: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/2018/04/20/272900576
Really nice article. Good for Nathan not reading all his texts/social media comments. That would have been so overwhelming and distracting, as much as he loves using his phone.

Random Nathan-related comment: when I saw the SOI group number where the guys are wearing short sleeved shirts and hats, it gave me flashbacks to Nathan's cowboy program. One of these days, I hope he does something like Yuzuru Hanyu and skates to a medley of his old programs. Bring back Peter and the Wolf!
