Rosenberg dumped Tonya in 93 because he couldn't deal with Jeff. I wish he would of simply got Jeff on a reality show like ice road truckers or a winter version of Survivor to keep him away from Tonya in the 93/94 season. Its not like Jeff had a job or anything so he would have been able to go on those shows quite easily.

Don't you think it was unprofessional for an agent to reveal that he parted ways with his client because of the cash value terms she wanted in the contracts he sought for her? I thought this was strange. I have never heard of an agent publicly revealing the clients bargaining position (reserve price in $USD), particularly when one's agent is supposed to be one's closest business confidante.
(Gosh, as far as I can tell, Michelle Kwan was closer to Shep Goldberg than even her coaches.)

No, this was not related to any "cash value terms" within any contracts her agent had previously negotiated. It was never stated that Tonya set restrictions for interviews that would limit the types of questions she would be asked in any of her contracts. Once she was in the "I, Tonya" spotlight, she simply got PO'd after the fact at reporters asking her about the Kerrigan plot, and she then came up with a demand to her agent that they stop asking these types of questions or pay a $25,000 fine. As her agent put it, that's not how interviews work, and he had every right to publicly state that this was the reason he was dropping her as a client. No sane agent would have given in to her ridiculous demands. And how Tonya could believe or expect that she wouldn't be asked about "the incident" is beyond me, yet another sparkling example of her ignorance (or perhaps at best, wishful thinking).

I plan on watching for Adam and Mirai and Jennie. As for Tonya, hopefully this will the last of her current 15 minutes.

I think:
- The agent was unprofessional revealing the reserve price.

It's somewhat difficult to separate Tonya the skater from Tonya the person. I absolutely love Tonya the skater. She is probably one of the most naturally talented figure skaters the US has ever produced. Her jumping and spinning ability were legendary. The sad thing is I think the sky could have been the limit for her but she was far too prone to distractions and excuses. And not working hard enough.
It's hard for me to be sympathetic to Tonya personally. I do believe she had knowledge of the plot and that showed horrible sportsmanship at the very least. Especially considering if she had just trained her ass off she would have easily beaten Kerrigan because IMO she was the better skater with more talent and ability. In any case, she has never taken responsibility for her part in the attack against Nancy. If she had spent just half of the time during her career on training and conditioning as she has playing the Blame Game in the subsequent years, she would have been a World and Olympic champion SMH. The way she sees life is just very flawed to me and I don't think that's ever going to change. It makes it hard to root for her.
But on the other hand, I will forever enjoy watching old performances of hers. And say what you want about Mama Lavona, but she sure did have talent as a costume maker. Tonya's dress for her short program that she wore in Munich was totally different cool and amazing!

I thoroughly enjoy the concept of you never knowing, dear.
And @Sasha is DIVINE said it very well. Tonya was indeed a talented skater, and it is difficult to separate her great skating attributes and performances from Tonya the person and all that came after the Kerrigan incident. Just imagined if Tonya could have put all that energy into really practicing, staying in shape, and working hard instead of the "blame game" as noted. She would likely have wiped the ice with Nancy and probably outskated Kristi most of the time, too.

Leo and Jack were saved by Baywatch Babes Nicole Eggert and Ericka Eleniak. Florence Henderson was cooking pork chops and applesauce over the campire. Soleil Moon Frye and Raven Simone were competiting in the dance dance revolution challenge. Dawn Wells and Tina Louise were having a catfight over Gilligan.
Some people get cast on the show to play the role of the controversial contestant, the one who probably won't go far but might create some buzz in the early weeks. They're there to add variety to the cast and maybe cause some fireworks. Think of some of the past contestants. Paula Deen was cast after allegations she had used racial slurs and wanted her black employees to engage in Antebellum cosplay during her social events.
And thanks to the film, Tonya has gotten a lot of mainstream media attention this year. The reaction to her casting, that she's being discussed more than most of the others, probably confirms to the producers that she was a good choice.

I agree with this. Perhaps if her husband was more supportive and no beating the holy hell out of her she could have stayed in shape and performed better. Personally, I think she should have went the Gracie Gold route and took some time off to “heal thyself” but that sort of thing wasn’t done back then and carried a very large stigma.

Whatever my own opinions are it is never my goal to truly offend any other posters so I apologize to @Japanfan and @VIETgrlTerifa. The example I gave is way AWOL but what I am trying to make others understand is that whether it be outrage or defense, Whatever attention is given to Harding is all good for her. I’m not from that generation so I might not fully grasp the impact of her actions, but just wanted to make my own( rum influenced at the moment) opinion heard. Although like I was told once. “Opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one and some of them are smelly”

If I could turn back time, I would of waited until after96 to split the winter and summer Olympics. Nancy would have turned pro. Tonya really should of been the 92 Olympic bronze medalist, and Surya should of placed over Nancy there as well. The 3 medalists would of definitely turned pro. I don't think Tonya would of made it to 96, but she could still of won the 93 and 94 titles since Kwan and Bobek were fairly new to the senior ranks, and maybe a world title before turning pro. World Pros, Us Open (the televised one with a mix of known and unknown pros), World Challenge, and the pro-ams would still exist. Jerry wouldn't be interested in Nancy since the next Olympics would of been too far away and Kathy Solomon would have got to keep her husband, and their kids would have had their dad full-time. Where is Marty McFly's time machine when you need it?

Abuse damages a person at the core, hence damages a person's self-esteem. I'm sure Tonya had some people telling her she could be the best, but it would be hard to really believe it when one is being beat up by one's husband and has been abused by one's mother her entire life. People internalize abuse and feel they are to blame. Even if the person knows he/she is not, it's hard not to feel that way.
Tonya had a bravado and swagger about her, but like her or hate her, behind this you can be sure there is/was a world of hurt. She may be dealing with it better now than she did when she was young, and may have gone through therapy - IDK.
If the film and DWTS are helping her to further put it behind her, I think that's a good thing, especially given that she's raising a child.
EDA: Tonya has always struck me as quite defensive. The abuse may have also resulted in her being very defensive, which may be why she may not have expressed as much 'remorse' as people see fitting. It's hard to feel remorse at the same time that one feels victimized.
