Who Do You Think Will Opt Out of Worlds?

Exactly. It was painfully awkward every time. There were no pearls clutched here, it was all second-hand embarrassment for them.

This is true. You need perky personalities or indeed any personality to pull a programme like this off ' and him especially is too reserved.

Compare this to Marchei/Hotarek's no comparison. They did pull it off due to their personalities on the ice.

Looks like W/P are in for Worlds and aren’t calling it a career quite yet :)

“Poje, 30, says the pair will take it “year by year” in terms of deciding their future in the sport but will look forward to the world championships, which take place in Milan in March

“We need a little vacation after that,” he said.”
That is fantastic news about W/P..... I am so hoping that they stick around.. Didn't D/R say the same thing after Sochi????

Great to hear about W/P. If their hearts are still in it, definitley do one more year to see if they can get National title back and make at least top 5 in the world if not hit the podium. They will be elevated or dumped. My guess is they might try to rationalize staying in until Montreal/2020 if they have a shot at the podium.

Article in English on Yuzuru Hanyu published before the Exhibition Gala: https://english.kyodonews.net/news/...flag-at-closing-ceremony-worlds-in-doubt.html
Speaking after practice for Sunday's gala exhibition, Hanyu, who became the first man in 66 years to defend his Olympic title last week, also said he is still undecided about whether to take part in the upcoming world championships in Milan.
He has been performing in Pyeongchang, his first competition in four months, with the aid of painkillers.
"I am still a bit undecided," Hanyu said of next month's worlds. "I think it is the federation that will make an announcement about that."
"My ankle is not in good shape and I have to keep that in mind and take various things into consideration before coming to a decision."
Hanyu said he will continue to take painkillers until the exhibition is done.
"I'll keep taking them so I don't lose my skating feeling but I will start reducing the dosage and then after that, I have to look at how I am feeling and take it from there."
"It is launching into the lutz and loop that is causing pain but landing is okay as long as I am taking the painkillers."

I really hope the JSF doesn't pressure Hanyu to compete in Milan. I would like him to take care if his injury and let it heal before he competes again. It could mean skipping the entire next season. He can come back in 2020 like Yu na Kim did to prep for the next Olympics.

Isn't today at 20:00 Milan time the last deadline for registration ? Are they gonna release the list immediately though ?

Anyone have a link where Javi said about washing his hands of skating?
I think it might come across as more than he intended it to mean. Lost in translation or something.
I don't have a link but remember hearing it or something like it. I think he meant serious competitions, not all figure skating, since he wants to be involved in figure skating schools in Spain to advance the sport there.

Because someone questioned the notion so now it is "truth." I can't imagine they would not go as they might move up from bronze to silver position with V/M out.
No, people are saying that based on their own comments at the press conference. Personally, I expect them to go too, but it's fair to ask.

From Jackie Wong:
Shibutanis: We don't know. The plan is to go to Worlds. It's been the most amazing, ridiculous 48 hours of my life. We'd love to be there

It sounds like they'll go, but other skaters were definitive and they weren't.

S/B and Z/G could easily secure 2 spots.

But not three.

Bobrova & Soloviev and Stepanova & Bukin are Russia's first good shot at earning the three places in over two years. And if Soloviev really plans on repartnering & coming back, he may want that spot himself.

Since P/C seem to be going I'm kinda hoping that either the Shibs or B/S will opt out simply because it'll increase C/L's chances at getting a medal at their (possibly) last worlds at home.
(But I won't begrudge them if they decide to go).
