#TeamTrainwreck 11: Foreplay over Coldplay

Medvedeva was getting high 8s/the occasional 9s by the end of her 1st senior season, the increase was nowhere near what Zagitova has had over the season. Zag got almost 4 points more in PCS for her SP today than Med did in Boston. And although Med's skating then had its faults, there were nowhere near as many gaps as in basic skills like flow and posture as Zagitova has at the moment.

I'd guess that Zag got a big push from the federation around GPF & kept getting it because they weren't sure how fit Med would be with her fracture and now tendonitis.

Your arguments makes sense to me :) That Evgenia's injury really let Zagitova's momentum to grow as much as her successful starts. Not that long ago (like 12 month ago still) people were expresing confidence that it will be Medvedeva with OGM in Pyeong Chang.

I thought that up until the GPF. Zag missed the combo in the short program, what 3-4 times and had to pull the win from slaying her free skate. But, then she started to hit. GPF. Euros. Olympics. I guess she got tired of being yelled at after the short. I was certain Med's consistency would be enough to carry her past the higher BV TES. But, she was injured and Zag got her mojo going in the short. Now, I have no idea what will happen in the free. If either makes a mistake the other will win. If neither makes a mistake, Zag wins simply due to TES. If both make a mistake, no idea what will happen.

Count me in as one rooting for Med. And it happened when Zag came onto the scene. There's just something so frantic about her. But I'm not that invested in ladies, except for the fact that I really want a Japanese medal. Watched the last two groups, I needed the sleep, but will stay up Friday, with bf, he's off work for winter holiday at school. If I buy candy, he watches skating with me, even in the middle of the night. What a gem he is! :D

Catching up on ladies now. Isadora just lovely! So glad she made the fs! Bummed for Anita (but hasn't reached her program yet)

Ladies SP Recap:

Mambekova: Spectacular look and music aside, that spot should have gone to a 3rd japanese. But thanks for the eye candy!
Knychenkova: Flashbacks of Kovalevski!
Ostlund: Fell asleep :shuffle:
Russo: You are no Kostner to pull such a hipster routine,
Nikitina: Fell asleep :shuffle:
Austman: If only her skating were as good as her make up.
Li: Lovely but will the CHN fed also destroy her before Beijing 2022?
Toth: It's a bad program but thank Skating Gods for a girl who gives a big F**ck U to all the princesses and pseudo ballerinas.
Meite: Gimme Slutty Sandy :wuzrobbed
Kim: Fell asleep :shuffle:
Hendrickx: I still dunno what that costume and choreo have to do with Madonna's Frozen.
Paganini: USA #6 was nice but forgettable.
Peltonen: She's smoking hot. Potential for a future Korpi. Please next year a costume up to your instagram standards.
Williams: USA #5 did pretty well.:cheer2:
Craine: Im going to miss that program so much. Great result for her.
Tursynbaeva: I'll take the risk of mentioning the taboo topic around here but her weight worries me. A LOT.:slinkaway
Schott: I guess is a good results for daddy's girl.
Rajicova: Fell asleep again during USA #4 :shuffle:
Sotskova: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Tennell: The latin american comentators were really surprised she held onto 1st position for 3 entire groups and were even talking about a US bias
Chen: Im tired of that program already.
Nagasu: She's also a sentimental fave of mine but with no Axel her skating becomes so lacking.
Choi: Best dressed award but needs more work in the expression.
Daleman: Why you keep bitchfacing in the K&C when you know you didn't do well?
Kostner: A woman in a sea of babies:encore: (I would have put her below Daleman though)

Magnificat level
Sakamoto: Give her JPN#1 status right now!
Miyahara: Give her proper PCS right now!!
Osmond: Give her a new SP right now!!
Medvedeva: Give her the chance to do an extra jumping pass so she can win right now!!
Zagitova: Give her proper PCS (less) right now!!

Do-Hard Award: A tie between Austman and Daleman. Trashy hooker canadian looks:respec:

I forgot to nominate Uno for MESS-award for his belly-splat on the 4loop in the FS! :yikes:There's video out there somewhere, right? Or after OG finished?

Is it normal that I am still little bit salty for ... Javier? All that despite him ending up with desired first ever Olympic medal for Spain in figure skating. Uno got away luckily with no < call for that 4-Rittberger. That would be enough for silver medal.

It was a toss up so im fine with whatever resulte between the two. Javie wasn't that stellar either.

I also would have had Javi second. In one of his interviews he also mentions Shoma's jumps, he sounds happy with bronze anyways but knowing he could have had silver.

Is it normal that I'm already thinking about junior worlds? :p
Our BabyRizzo is going and I am looking forward to Junior dance too.

I also can`t wait for Junior Worlds! Especially dance is going to be interesting. I`m curious if S/A can again beat C/P and who of the Russian baby dancers will stand next to them on the podium. :D

Give me video proof, I migh re-consider! It's not burnt in my mind as spectacular!

I am among these who are actually quite indifferent towards who I want to win of these two as I am not emotionally invested in any of them. I would love to see Kaetlyn playing a spoiler but I find it impossible :( I would be delighted if she somehow holds into bronze though.

To be fair I've lost large part of my interest in ladies here because there's no Wakaba here :( And neverending scoring nonsense that is particularly strong in this discipline kinda turned off my interest.

As much As i am neutral on Katelyn if Wakaba was here and skated clean in the SP she would be in third rn.

I find it hard to get involved with the Russian teams, as there are so many and it's sometimes hard to find the ones with unique traits. Also knowing that often in dance and pairs they split before reaching seniors, I need to save my ubering :p
My style also in general for dance is more North American, so I am more looking forward to C/P and I think the next big thing in canadian skating will be L/L.
But I see the babyrussians more as potential tt material, along with drama Rahier

My personal guess is that you're right and have a good reason to fear..
She thanks everyone in that post: the God, her partner, Kustarova&Alexeeva (their first coaches), Zhulin and all their coaching team.
:wuzrobbed:wuzrobbed:wuzrobbed
That was not the answer I wanted to hear :drama:

I forgot, are juniors eligible for the MESS- award?
If yes, we should take Trusova's fall on 4T in consideration :yikes:
If they splat like that, they are! :yikes:
On a serious note: Juniors can be included for the awards, when they have outstanding material, like this splat or #shpilevayasfinger !

Shortlist she is and in a very good position making the cut! :respec:

Well, I usually watch all Russian comps and some small events and also don't have my fav dance team among them all.
S/A have great basics and I was truly impressed at last year Junior Nats with their blues (their synchronization and lines were to die for), but they need better packaging for sure
Shpilevaya/Smirnov are great but he has to heal his injury first and I have a lot of doubts about Zhuck as a coach, her girls usually can't skate and their knees are pretty stiff
Shevchenko/Eremenko (I know, @SmallFairy will :lynch: me), I luuurve their material and their looks, but she can not skate :wall:
Gorshkov's teams (Ushakova/Nekrasov and Kinking with her parter) are just not me "taste" , I don't like their packaging and programs , they're sooo 2000-ies:shuffle:
But, I suggest you to check this team: Khudaberdieva/Nasarov, who were 5th at Junior Nats this year, but were second after the SD. His name is Nikita and he usually katsalapoves his twizzles, so I have some I/K flashbacks from them :fragile:

I'm sorry, this post would be more appropriate in the Dance thread. but I got too carried away :)

@Ka3sha thanks for the explanation post, I know what to do between now and Jr Worlds :D
(you can always cross post in the dance thread whenever we need a break from the ubers there :p)

Eteri Tutberidze terrifies me. Alina does not deserve a coach that is unhappy & seething about her achievement.
