She teamed up with Anton Shibnev and they will be at the Russian test skates this weekend. Is there any news about Elena Ilinykh ? Last I remember was some kind of confusion whether she had retired to try coaching or she might get a new partner and just experience coaching on the side.
Thanks. I'm not familiar with him, is he any good ? From the pictures, they're both very attractive so there's that. Hopefully, we'll get to see some videos from the test skate. She teamed up with Anton Shibnev and they will be at the Russian test skates this weekend.

Here is Davankova & Shibnev's free skate from Russian Nationals last season.

Why did they split?
I don't know that an explanation has been posted. My guess is that he was propelled by a desire to finish higher than 5th at Universiade.
(My mother says it was probably because his partner was sleeping with their coach).
Is his partner Morozov's latest wifw or something? Both theories sound plausible to me.![]()

Rumors are that Bobrova's FD is very good. I hope considering their SD sucks.
Nikita is looking strong too but the FD is rumored to be boring as well as the FD from Stepanova/Bukin.
When are the open skates?
So who do people think will be the 'breakouts' of this season?
I mean more broadly, who will move up in the stands (even close-to-the-top skaters).
I think (wish- I'm totally biased here) the time has come for Hubbell/Donohue to step up to be the top US team
. International judges at Worlds have shown that they are ready to give them top marks, they 'just' need to be consistent and avoid costly mistakes. SD latin style I think will play to their advantage and the FD music choice sounds promising as well.
SD-wise, the rhumba pattern is something that they can do. At Nice, they were the only team along with the Pechalat/Bourzat who got level fours in both patterns.
Who does the ice dance tech coaching in Canton these days?
Shpilband seemed to be a natural fit for the team since they had already worked with him part-time with their previous partners. As their main coach, he mostly works with them on the technical elements and choreography.
“Rohene Ward also works on our choreography and adds polish,” Carreira added. “Fabian Bourzat helps us create new lifts and works on our skating skills, Adrienne Lenda on our technical elements, Greg Zuerlein on the compulsory dances, footwork, and skating skills. We also have Gyrotonic classes and ballet with Veronique Breen, and Aaron Stickler is our trainer.”
“We also do acrobatics with Oleg Ouchakov and ballroom with Oksana Zolotarevskaya,” offered Ponomarenko.
I really don't wanna jinx it, but YES PLEASE! MAKE IT HAPPEN! It's gonna take consistent perfection for them to get there, but it's gonna be soooooo worth itI think (wish- I'm totally biased here) the time has come for Hubbell/Donohue to step up to be the top US team

Super agree!!!!!!! H/D as the #1 US team going into the Olympics will be a dream come true!!! Could you imagine them competing and winning a medal at the team event???So who do people think will be the 'breakouts' of this season?

Will any of the newly seniors or another under the radar team have a P/C like rise in the rankings or the top 10 is pretty much set?
Where will Coomes/Buckland fit in?
The picture will be clearer after we see programs/shape of the teams in the Challenger events, but it's fun to discuss now blindly before we see anything
I have the feeling Stepanova/Bukin have been close to that for a few seasons and with Bobrova/Soloviev retiring it should be soon clear who's the new leader in Russia. I think they had promising material at the beginning of last season but somehow didn't grow much throughout the season and remained a bit messy. So they could be a surprise this year.

LOLAre they going to pantomime it? Averbukh has seriously questionable taste.
Well yeah. Of course. I was just projecting a scenario...#1 US team means a guaranteed spot at the team event. H/D are super capable of winning a medal in the ice dance event.Any team that goes in as #1 for the U.S. will not go in just looking for a medal in the team event.

To say the truth, the source says that Averbukh didn't choreograph it, he just helped them with some detailsRussian Test Skates Alert:
Apparently, Elena and Anton are doing a Spartacus FD choreographed by Averbukh! I really, really can't wait to see these new programs...
