Chances for Germany are still not that bad regarding the weak entries field.
Savchenko/Massot should get 18 or 20pts.
In a very weak ladies field even Weinzierl or Bock might get close to a medal and should get 30+ points at least.
Lorenz/Polizoakis assuming, finishing, Top 5 might score around 15pts too.

Canada with no lady and weak pairs/dance teams should be no danger.
USA is missing a girl, where the most points will be given.
And I guess all other countries should be worse, or? Even without a german guy (which is still pretty :mad:)

Frieder Dieck is Tim Dieck's father. It is a real skating family: the mother, Martina, is a single skating coach. Tim's older sister Dominique was an ice dancer and competed at Junior Worlds before retiring from competitive skating.

However, Frieder Dieck obviously is not judging any competition with his son competing, even not inside Germany.
 
But he also shouldn't judge a competition where other German dance teams participate, in my opinion at least.

Interesting you are seeing a problem here but are not having any problems with Weinzierls 'home' judge not only judging the other german girls but also Weinzierl at challenger series.

In comparison, I never saw Dieck on any challenger judging panel, but I might be wrong.
 
Lea Johanna Dastich kicked off the #olympicrace today with her SP at JGP Salzburg
(though this as a junior competition won't count towards the race)

Good news: Jumps seemed better than last season, no carrot party here. Not sure about the takeoff-edge though.
Puberty hit her finally, for that, good to see that her jumps got not affected.

Overall: the skating has improved a bit, the presentation, imho not. 19pcs do speak for themselves.

But she seemed to be pleased and for a first outing, this was very decent.

If Weinzierl/Schott get their shit together, Dastich should be no danger to them. But let's wait what she will present in the free.

I think you can't compare Ice Dance judging with the Singles event. The Ladies need to get their jumps together... there's not much room to play except in the component mark while in Ice Dance we all know judging is different. I think he shouldn't be judging any internationals event and just not be around with any judges. For Weinzierl's home judge, she's a judge since a very long time and also she is not a family member. That's a huge difference.

Dastich, good for pulling the jumps together but the skating? Oh my! I think she has not improved... her crossovers, her posture. It's really bad... it's not pleasant to look at.
Schott is German's skating skills queen for sure. It's the technical mark where Weinzierl could get her. But between Dastich and them are worlds!

I don't agree here. I am fine with him juding non-senior-events or senior-events with no german team entered.

Which ended , for example, in strange positive GOE's calls on a popped jump.
I can't see any difference here, when one judge is, imho, obviosuly favouring one of the german girls above the others and sits on the panel. And above all: Is vice-president of the federation :shuffle:
But who am I to tell?

My point in the post, was: both should do their job professional and I would just like to see neither of them close to any judging panel in the important events for the skaters.

I echo your thoughts.

Jumps look better, spins were good, and I thought there were a good amount of transitions in the program. Basics still need work, but they do look a little better.

I liked the music, but not for her. You've got to have some sense of performing to pull off such perky and fast music. PCS still needs a lot of work. She has a lot of potential in the next quad, but she's going to need to find a style she's comfortable with and improve the skating skills.
 
Luft/Kazimov had a little improvement in the FD, 12th place (52,97pts :rolleyes:) here, obverall they remaind on the last (16th) place with 82,48pts.

The combo just does not work for me; he could be good imho. But she lacks a lot and their proportions seem rather weird too.
Now let's wait and see what Schwendinger/Wunderlich have to offer.

Catch that gossip on the Program music threat. Apparently Tessa wanted to skate in 2014 to Pride and Prejudice but Marina wanted them to stick to that Russian composer and now L/P skate to that music. Not that L/P are on the same level as V/M... but the shade is there.
 
Jonathan Hess finished with 166,55pts on a solid 12th place in Salzburg (SP 7th, FS 13th)

He missed the big points with 3-3 and 3a, but overall I was surprised. There is potential, the short is way better than the free. He totally ran outta speed towards the end, but this should get better during the season!

Dastich finished 8th overall in Salzburg (140,77pts)
I did not like the program last season, I do not like it this season.

She has the weapons, if she gets lucky with the caller at one of her challengers she still could be a big threat to Weinzierl and Schott.

SP: Fentz fall at 3A and 3Lz and Liebers fall at 3A, his spins were n't good. At FS Fentz fall at both 3A, Liebers did two 3A, he could obviously land.

Now I understand, that no men takes part at Nebelhorn. It seems that they are not ready yet.
 
There is a German article on figureskating-online.de (http://www.figureskating-online.com/testskates-berlin.html) about the testskate in Berlin:

"...auch wenn alle 4 Paare zunächst für die Olympiaqualifikation gemeldet werden. Entschieden wird ca. 3 Tage vorher wer tatsächlich an den Start geht. Kavita Lorenz und Joti Polizoakis müssen fit bis dahin sein.. Die DEU entscheidet gemeinsam mit Herrn Skotnicky."

My fingers are crossed because I would love to see Kavita & Joti but the decision will be made only 3 days before the competition which means that K/N, M/D, U/S and L/P could all be the ones skating at Nebelhorn-Trophy.
 
3 days prior to the competition? That sounds not good. I think it shouldn't be this way because what if L/P won't be able to skate and a other team has to skate... you have to be mentally somehow ready for it and not only 3 days prior. Does the article say anything about the other dance teams, how they skated and what about ladies?

Also the truth is L/P have not mentioned yet going to Nebelhorn...

I think we can be sure U/S won't be the chosen ones in the end.

For the others! All can be ready, mentally too, if they prepare like they are the chosen ones to skate. I can't see a problem there. Sucks of course, if you are not the selected one in the end, but all can prepare for the scenario.

Everyone of the 4 teams want to skate in Korea, not only in the team event but in the individual too. So motivation to prepare, even if you might not be selected, should not be in question.

- jumps solid and almost without mistakes
- SP dress will be changed (no clue if this already happened before JGP)
- FS music does not fit her (as if we not have known after last season; why did no one intervene when she kept it? :wall:)

Schott:
- good presentation both programs
- SP she only did the easier triples
- FS seems like she did not jump at all or only doubles :rolleyes:
- FS to Schindler's List seems to be great

Bock:
- no jumps at all due to her injury
- presentation in both programs is good
- her FS to La La Land is praised
- is entered for Nebelhorn but will decide last minute if she skates due to her injury

Weinzierl:
- SP only 2flip and shaky spins
- FS to Four Seasons does not impress and lacks presentation, choreo is not good
- bad jumps in the FS

- FD is very bland; they had to repeat lots of the tech stuff later

Mueller/Dieck:
- seem to be in good shape, easy flow
- they seem superior than the other 2 dance teams attended
- great twizzles

Urban/Steffan:
- good SD
- lots to work on the FD, the latin themed program was not well received by everyone
- did not show their costumes
- have improved since last season, but still behind the others

Schwendiger/Wunderlich:
- twizzles too far apart
- FD music: Miss Peregrine´s home for peculiar children
- FD seems to be something special, interesting new
- they want to make it to the JGPF :shuffle:
(who is responsible for setting realistic goals in german fed? :D )

Pairs:

- were not present, but will have their athltic tests this weekend in berlin
- the FS is said to be something never been seen before in pairs skating

Thomalla/Kunkel (junior)
- secure triple throws and triple twists
- she grew 6cm, not good for Robert
- bad pairs spin
- FS to Elvis Presley music, choreo not great; single jumps not competitive
- throw flip only double

Hocke/Blommaert
- have 3twist since a short time
- stunning throw 3loop
- sbs 3toe, she has problems with that
- FS sbs jumps are 2a+2a+seq and 3toe
- FS only 2twist, the difficult axel lift was aborted

Hase/Seegert
- stunning SP; suits them perfectly
- pairs spin was not great and had to be repeated many times
- they are going for 3twist and 3t+3t+seq (new element for them)

As I remember Schott did not jump any triple jump and no 2A, only doubles and singles.

Little correction here as well. Hocke/ Blommaerts jumps in their FS were 3T+2T+2T and 2A - worked out well. Hase/ Seegert went for 3T Seq. 3T (did not work, they did only 3T) and 3S
