German Skating News - Part 3

Didn't Herceg retire?
My last information is that she moved to Munich (where she is studying) in order to avoid travelling between Munich and Regensburg. In Munich she is coached by Andrej Vlascenko.
I have no information that she plans to retire.
We won't see her in the JGP this year as she is not junior any more. Let's see whether she enters any Challenger competition.

yeah, we mentioned that in post #969 already, but I think some questions still remain.

There will be a ranking based on the sum of the two best results in this season (until end of December). The ranking considers all competitions that are eligible for World Standings, that is, GP, JGP and Challenger, plus the German Nationals.
Is it 2 results + nationals or 2 results of which one can be nationals? the wording here is not clear ('erweitert um die deutsche meisterschaft');

side note: you get world standing points fot senior b's too, but im am pretty sure, german fed is going for the challenger results.

either way, it's just bizarre to publish nominations criteria, which are based on a olympic race, which is not further defined on feds homepage :wall:

She has moved to Munich a year ago. As far as Herceg was n't at the test skates I would rather believe in the rumours that she has quit competitive skating.

Interpreting Weinzierls hashtags, seems like her free skate is to 'Four seasons'

Ehm yap. No word on this. Big doubts @alchemy void might be pleased with that choice.

I am pleased. I hope she wears pants.

I actually think it's a good choice for her. She's not very classical or elegant but that's why 4 seasons might be a good fit because it's pretty powerful... and so is her skating and jumps.

:respec: Totally agree.

Dastich will kick off the #germanolympicrace at the first challenger-weekend at lombardia!
:watch:

The 1st dance team to set a mark is Koch/Nüchtern at Ondrej Nepela #germanolympicrace
I wish we would have a head-to-head but I hope this is coming more than once later in the season.
Underdogs to skate first. Watch out!

Short recap by Matti Landgraf of the 'tryout' with Mari
Also, in a recent interview Matti said that during their brief time skating together, his impression was that "her heart wasn't fully in it".
:wuzrobbed

These are quite strict and I hope not discouraging.

Looking at the ladies that made the DC team with the old criteria ... most of them would not have made it under the new one.
Not sure what the Fed is thinking. Are they trying to keep the numbers in DC smaller or encourage skaters to move up to Junior faster?

Nebelhorn entries are up:

Kavita/Joti are the chosen ones (with German Fed naing 3 subs )

No german men, seriously? :blah:
Bock vs Weinzierl :watch: (good to see Bock seems ready to compete)
#teampink

Debut of Hocke/Blommaert and the Empress of course :glamor:

Interesting! Wondering if they were monitored in the US or something. But I am happy we get to see them out there soon!
Good for Weinzierl and Bock. If they manage to skate clean at home they'll get a puffer ahead of Schott - that's for sure.

If not Dastich will shock them all with their outing at Lombardia :D

But yeah, I thought the same, the Nebelhorn ladies field is very, ehm, underwhelming, so both, Bock and Weinzierl could end up high and already build momentum.

I didn't know where to post this but I thought it was kind of funny. :shuffle:

US Figure Skating's press release for Skate America:
http://www.usfsa.org/story?id=90798&type=media

"The event features 2017 world silver medalists Aliona Savchenko in pairs and world bronze medalists Gabrielle Daleman of Canada and Boyang Jin of China in ladies and men's, respectively..."

Aljona is her own pair in the press release and they forgot about Bruno completely. she doesn't even have a country, she just represents Pairs figure skating. They get how important she is though, they lead off with her when talking about the international competitors. :glamor: (just forgot Bruno and where she's from is all) this is an example of how important Aljona is in our country. :respec:

Peter is entered for Autumn classic the week before Nebelhorn.
Hm, I do not like the fact, that we get no german men at NHT. It would be nice for the audience to have some home skaters to cheer for.:shuffle:
Either way, I hope he is healthy and in good shape.

Funny but not I am not surprised. She is the greatest skater who is still skating.

Aljona steals the show, again? :glamor: No surprise as the queen prepares to ascend to her throne, her rightful place... She cannot forget about her faithful, adoring knight, however. Bruno is her right arm!

Very bad outing by Luft/Kazimov at their JGP debut in Salzburg; both went down on the pattern and overall this looked pretty laboured; he seems way better than her.
29,51pts, 16th place, dead last :shuffle:

Side note: How easy is it for Dortmund to remain 'Olympiastützpunkt', if the results of their skaters are, ehm, worrisome?
(Besides M/D).

Besides: Who on earth would seriously consider skating to "Everybody Cha Cha" by Cecil Jonni Lauro (Stephan Remmler's sons. Remmler was the singer of the band Trio btw) They were a typical one-hit-wonder and this song wasn't even a hit

Hmmm, doesn't that mean no Fritz Geiger Memorial (team) Trophy this year?
Still listed in this year's Announcement: "The FRITZ-GEIGER-MEMORIAL TROPHY will be awarded to the best-placed Team with the highest number of points in the Nebelhorn-Trophy 2017."
