Yes, they wasted 4 seasons but is it really too late? I don't think so. They're not getting any younger, but they are still quite young. If they want to win medals again, they gotta start ASAP. They have to set goals. Looking at it right now, PyeongChang is gonna be a bit of an outside shot for them, but they could definitely do Beijing. With the right programs, I think they have a good shot at being the #1 Russian dance team and possibly win Olympic medals again.Too late. If they wanted that, it should have happened last season. Now is way too late.
La La Land doesn't really make sense to me with what Alex said at the press conference about their program (it will be about his and Maia's unique journey and a lot of thought has gone into it, etc). But I did wonder if CB got wind of the rumors (I saw them on tumblr and I know some of the younger Novi skaters are on tumblr) and that's why they announced when they did.Interesting. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Not this stupid thing again.I hated when Del/Scho did it in 2010, I hated when Virtue/Moir did at 2014. This is most lame free dance idea you can ever choice.

Me too. So did Fix You which was about...Maia and Alex's unique journey. And I loved That's Life which was about....Maia and Alex's unique journey. I probably didn't phrase it well above, but I interpreted what he said to mean it would be a program they would be uniquely qualified to skate because of their journey, not necessarily a career retrospective. It just reinforces that they like to do personal dances. VM's FD this year was also supposed to be about their journey, and PC's FD last year was deeply personal to them.In the pairs parallel universe, I thought Sui and Han's Our Journey program to Bridge over Troubled Water program worked very well.

I'm with you, Areski. I never found I/K to be as captivating as other skate fans. They were certainly easy on the eyes, but I thought their skating was just so much schtick and over-emoting. Even the Swan Lake program was mostly posing with much less techncial content compared with teams ranked below them. (Yeah, I get it; you can stand on your ice picks and make like a ballerina en pointeI don't see Elena succeeding with Nikita again and I don't want them to reunite (I am in minority I guess). The truth is that I was never fawning over them when they were together though either. Katsalapov is just too shaky and regressed very much as well. He's worse than ... Zhiganshin. And I don't even delve into his questionable conduct & behaviour issue.
I respectfully disagree. It's interesting to see differences in opinions. I'm not a big fan of Classical Russian programs, but I/K's Swan Lake to me was the Star of Sochi. It had everything. Drama, technical difficulty, and quality. I remember them doing about 5 positions in one lift (note the time limit). Spins and twizzles were so fast, they looked like they overdosed on sugar. As much as I LOVE Tessa and Scott, I/K really stood out and to me, they had the best FD in the Olympics. I definitely do not think politics carried the day... The fact that I/K won medals at that level says something... They were a force to be reckoned with.I'm with you, Areski. I never found I/K to be as captivating as other skate fans. I would have placed P/B of France and W/P of Canada ahead of them overall. But politicks carried the day. Such a shame.

Well, actuially, they did. V/M were only 2nd in the FD. Yes, element errors cost more than slips on the in betweens. Deal with it; it actually does make some sense. It has been that way for decades, even before ijs.
Sorry, but with your posts you are just proving over and over again what zilam98 and princeton123 said. Some of Virtue/Mor fans may be overly sensitive, but it's not like you are without fault. You have been doing everything in your power to provoke them.
What I found most interesting after Worlds was the complete lack of mandate as far as American dance hierarchy goes. I thought it would be Canada with an unclear order, that GP would get very close to WP, but instead US dance next year is anyone's guess.
- The Shibs kept their national title and stayed on the World podium, but they lost a lot of levels, came close to losing their national title to CB, and owe their bronze at Worlds to Zach Donohue's toepick. The Latin rhythms for next year might be a hindrance as well, but their twizzles are flawless.
- Chock and Bates are relatively consistent, but haven't been able to capitalize on the best chances to move back up. They lost to HD at the GPF and would have finished third of the US teams at Worlds if not for HD making an e en bigger mistake.
- Hubbell and Donohue had the most upward motion of the three teams this season, and nearly won bronze despite being a third-ranked team, but this is the second time this season that a fluke fall has cost them a chance to solidify their upward trajectory. The Latin SD will suit them best next season, though.

The only way this works is if Elena and Nikita have actually matured and shown emotional growth in the last 3 years.
Although there's really no evidence of this, so IDK.
Looking at this season, Nikita is far from having matured. From his shenanigans in Marina's camp, to the crazy idea of engaging in a relationship with one's partner (I know this is a personal judgment but you'd think after such a tumultuous relationship with Elena, he would do everything in its power to minimize any kind of tension. Going out with one's partner is the surest way to mess everything up imo), to his technical regression and finally to the lack of combativeness during competition cf twizzles disaster at Euros, Nikita is still the volatile Nikita.I agree. More power to them if they've grown and learned and are able to work past their issues but if not... I don't want to see them get back together, it wouldn't be a healthy work environment.
The problem with I/K was that both of them had such fiery personalities and when you put fire and fire together, it creates an explosion. Their partnership literally exploded... But the upside to that is the fact that they had undeniable chemistry... Even better than that of S/K and I/Z's combined. The question now here is how unhealthy was I/K's partnership really? It ended horribly, but while it lasted, I'm pretty sure there were great moments too. Check this vid out and tell me. Around 3:00.Sorry, nope I don't want Elena and Nikita to get back together. It was a horrible relationship, both were miserable most of the time during their skating career.
