Will there be a US Nationals in 2025?

None of those three fit the clue we got that it will be in a small city outside a large city.

That clue was for Nationals - and the original post said a city of around 100k in the Midwest with an arena that seats about 12k.

As I pointed out there is one city in the Midwest that fits that criteria and that city just happened to host the 2023 Synchro Nationals. So, I'm betting on Peoria IL for Nats.

As far as Skate America, I could see the Orleans in Las Vegas again. There is a smaller arena in Henderson NV that seats 6k and they've used Henderson's rink (not the arena) for Champs Camp and Pacific Coast Sectionals in 2023, so I could see them going there instead of the Orleans.

I don't think Lake Placid is an option they're all that interested in unless they just can't find another venue - the travel to and from Lake Placid is too much of a hassle and they will want a location where they can at least get SOME people in the arena, even if it is just locals.

World Arena is certainly a possibility too and easy enough to organize - travel to and from Colorado Springs is better than to Lake Placid.

I do think ShoWare Arena in Kent WA (which hosted SkAm in 2012) is also a possibility if only because the arena seats about 6k and, like Henderson or Colorado Springs, is much more easy to travel to than Lake Placid. Plus, it could draw in Canadian fans from Vancouver who don't want to travel far for either their Nats, SCI or Worlds.

The clue I got for Skate America from my :sekret: was a small city outside a large city. It was not specified whether it was East, West, Midwest, South, etc. I couldn't remember if that had been shared here or not. I still have foggy post-Worlds brain. :lol:

Ooooooo! Nice! Well, then, I'd say that rules out Lake Placid and Colorado Springs. Kent is only about 165k, Henderson is 320k population-wise.
 
Keep in mind that a lot of touring artists and shows are still trying to make up for the $$$ they lost during the pandemic closures, by doing a lot of live shows. USFS will be competing with that for bookings at smaller/mid-size arenas.

USFS also needs the venue for at least a week - possibly more than that if the booking includes set-up and take-down - which is a lot longer than most users need. Needing that much time is also going to be a challenge in booking a suitable venue.

Hershey doesn't really fit the profile of small city near a large city in my mind. Reading isn't THAT big.

For Nats, yes, they'll need the venue for at least 9 days including set-up and take-down and to also accommodate for Jr/Novice practices early in the week.

For SkAm, they wouldn't need the venue for a full week quite - arrive & set-up on Wed, practices Thu, competition & gala Fri-Sun, take-down & depart Mon. It's still tough, for sure, especially if the venue has a sports team that also uses the arena.

Hershey is right outside Harrisburg. Not huge, but bigger than Reading.
 
If suburbs of a big city is where SKAM will be, isn't possible SKAM will return to the same arena they were at last year? USFS has done some recent return trips (Vegas, Hoffman Estates) other possibilities might be Daly City (outside of San Fran) or Norfolk (between Virginia Beach, Newport News and Chesapeake, VA) or Trenton (outside Philly and not far from NYC), although maybe all those arenas might prove to be too big for that event.

Yes, the practice rink in Independence was called "Silverstein Eye Centers Arena" in 2017.
 
guys - the Nat'ls hint did not indicate the city was a suburb of a larger metropolitan area. Here is what :sekret: have told peibeck and TanithandBenFan...

I was thinking KC area for SkAm then St. Louis for Nationals, or vice versa.

I also thought Reno and Vegas but that’s not Midwest.

Theoretically, couldn't Chicago and St Louis fit the bill too? If the St Louis location is on the Illinois side of the Mississippi.

Other Midwest states with multiple large metro areas - Ohio (Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus) or even Indiana if you count Indianapolis and then the Chicago suburbs on the Indiana side of the state line. Kansas has not just the KC suburbs but also Wichita. Oklahoma is kind of borderline between Midwest and South but there's both Tulsa and OKC.

The thing is - none of the Nats hints have said that the city is a suburb of a larger metro - that was ONLY a SkAm clue. So, we just need to be looking at locations that fit the parameters laid out...

for Nats -
1) city with a population around 100k
2) arena with a seating capacity of about 12k
3) in the Midwest
4) in the same state as the SkAm location (which has yet to be announced)

for SkAm -
1) smaller city that is a suburb of a large metro area
2) in the same state as the Nats location (which has yet to be announced)
3) due to #2, it's obviously in the Midwest
