No, people are saying it WILL. I am saying it MAY - and that is dependent on how the other teams score at their GPs.

The comment that you are arguing to the death over for no reason said they would be “in the conversation,” not that they would make it. I’m not sure why you are dedicated to proving that maybe they won’t be in the conversation. They will be in the conversation. The points ranking you yourself are posting will put them there. That doesn’t mean they’re going.

Nope. There is no guarantee they WILL be in the conversation. They MAY be in the conversation once the Selection Pool has been finalized. Everyone's saying that their MEDAL this week puts them in the conversation. Okay, sure. It puts them in the conversation the same way that NesMark are currently in the conversation. Or PateBye or the Browns.

This is like Christmas Dinner. Every single one of the top 10 teams are already in the room, the question is who is seated at the kids' table and who is seated at the grownups table?

My position is that, right now, the grownups table has 3 name cards inked in (ChoBat, CarPon & ZingKol) while the kids table has 5 name cards inked in (NesMark, PateBye, the Browns, MorChen & WolfTsar). GreenP & BraSom's table places are yet to be determined. I do NOT believe BraSom will have a seat at the grownups table. That is what I am saying. I firmly disagree with the position that others are taking here which is that BraSom WILL be at the grownups table.

Anything is possible and that isn't to say that they WON'T be at the grownups table. I just don't think they will - the data points we do have make me believe that there's probably a 5-point gap between ZingKol and BraSom. If GreenP's high score falls in between those two, that gives BraSom a better chance at being seated at the grownups table. If GreenP's high score is approximately the same or higher than ZingKol, then BraSom are going to the kiddie table for Christmas.

Wow, Karen. “In the conversation” simply means possible and plausible. It is. You are irritated that we don’t agree about my turn of phrase and seem determined to prove you are right. It’s pretty ridiculous at this point.

Green/Parsons article by Rachel Lutz before their first GP at NHK Trophy this week:
Excerpts:
To prep for the upcoming 2024-25 season, Parsons spent April to June at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado rehabbing a hip injury, while Green worked on her own at their home base in Michigan.
“A lot of [that time] was taking the time to reconnect with my own love for skating, outside of our partnership,” Green said. While it wasn’t something she had been previously struggling with, she added, “I’m in a much better place now than I was toward the end of last season.”
“Funny enough, I had always really loved this piece of music [“Spiegel im Spiegel”] for myself,” said Baker, who only two seasons ago was competing with partner Kaitlin Hawayek against Green and Parsons.
Baker began by asking Green and Parsons a question: If you were to watch yourselves at the World Championships, how would you want to see yourselves? He borrowed the method from his own coach, which inspired a few adjectives that provided the shape and direction of the choreography.
“I like to ask a lot of questions rather than say, ‘Do this step, do that step,’” Baker said. “I challenged them to dive into more of who they are and who they want to become on and off the ice. And how they want to be perceived and how they want to leave themselves in the sport whenever they decide to depart. I think that allowing their truest self to come through is my biggest attribute into what they’re performing.”

It's her playbook. If you don't agree she threatens to block. Honestly it is what it is, the fact she has a kids table and grownups table for dance teams says it all. :)

Oh, sweetie, you poor, poor, simple-minded soul who didn't pay attention during any reading comprehension lessons and cannot recognize an analogy - a very obvious, commonly-used one at that.

I have very few FSUers blocked and @skatfan is not one of them. While we disagree most vehementy about who is or is not really in the conversation for the 3rd spot on the Worlds team, they haven't gone out of their way to attack me directly like you have. I've clearly pricked a personal pressure point with you. Eventually, I'm sure we'll all figure out which team or skater it is who you are financially invested in - and then all of this will make far more sense.

Ben Agosto live tweeted the NHK Trophy Free Dance only this time.

WOW WOW WOW! Powerful, fluid, connected, effortless. There are so many choreographic details seamlessly interwoven with fantastic elements. That step sequence was incredible. Lady Luck is here to stay.129.63 SB, 215.95 total into 1st.
3 ISU SB scores in Tokyo, including 86.32 in the RD, and they have qualified for the GP Final.

Carreira/Ponomarenko:
OMG! That was spectacular! The storytelling, the edge quality, the choreo, the Kiss. The lunge lift was crazy. The quick changes of direction in ChAssist Jumps was great.119.33 into 1st!
C/P's total was 198.97 SB (79.64 RD was an ISU PB score) and they won the silver medal.

Green/Parsons: https://x.com/Ben_Agosto/status/1855101783875727741
Gorgeous! Every movement flows together beautifully. Such strength from both of them in the Combo Li. The ChSt was very special with slide movement. 3/3 on Steps. Bravo!114.38 SB into 1st
G/P's total was 188.76 and they finished 4th overall with 3 ISU SB scores in their 2nd competition of the season. ETA:

Well, well, well... GreenP scored 188.76 at NHK, which is just .65 lower than what ZingKol scored at SCI.

Best GP scores through 4 events:
ChoBat - 215.95
CarPon - 198.97 *
ZingKol - 189.41 *
GreenP - 188.76 *
BraSom - 185.88
NesMark - 179.38
Browns - 179.14 *
PateBye - 168.76 *
MorChen - 166.73

Next week we'll see if ZingKol, the Browns & PateBye can improve their scores from their first GPs; and CarPon & GreenP finish up in 2 weeks at CoC.

I'd say this confirms that ZingKol & GreenP have a little bit of space between them and BraSom. All things being equal, the only way BraSom make the World team again is if we have a repeat of last season's Nats.

It's 3 points difference. The USFS is going to do what they want with calls, GOE, and PCS like they do every. single. Nationals.

These International scores never mean shit, and I think you'd be the first to know USFS has their own agenda and inflation ways year after year.

sometimes nats scores are real to me tho

actually I am interested to see what the usfs hierarchy is. I have my suspicions of what I think the order is.

Oh, I realize this. That's another reason why I don't think BraSom are in any conversation for the Worlds team this year. I have no idea who will triumph between ZingKol and GreenP, though. I'll be rooting for GreenP because I think their programs are better this year.

We'll get to see if Z/K have improved their scores at all next week, and ditto for G/P the week after that. I like G/P's programs better overall but the part in the RD where Caroline actually sits down has to go, I keep thinking she's fallen before I remember it's just choreography.

I think with C/P sitting pretty in the #2 spot USFS is going to be relatively willing to just go by the results of Nationals again, especially given that Z/K and G/P are putting up pretty similar scores. B/S might be a tougher sell just because of what happened when they were sent as surprise #3 last time, but as long as C/P are around to hold things down as a reliable #2, USFS can afford to take risks.

Okay, yes, agreed. I got fooled at Nice and did recall yesterday that it was part of the choreo, but it's unnecessary and feels like a mistake.

Honestly, I don't know that I agree completely. GreenP went to Worlds in 2023 and did really well, BraSom went to Worlds in 2024 and we know how that went. I could see a thought process behind sending ZingKol to see how they do under the pressure of a home Worlds, with the view that next season will be a fight for the 3rd Olympics spot between ZingKol & GreenP.

I think Vadym's citizenship timeline may also play into it. If USFS doesn't think he'll have citizenship in time for the Olys, they are likely to push the teams that do/will. Supposedly, he's on track to get it, but if USFS isn't confident about that...

@jackson maybe you missed seeing @Prancer's Admin. request above?
Can this conversation go to PM, please?
Golden Skate has posted photos & quotes of the NHK Trophy gold & silver medalists:

... We just really appreciated the crowd. They were amazing and just always such a joy to perform.
Evan: (on their first NHK Trophy gold) It was just delightful to know that it's a new milestone for us.
Anytime the skaters are selected for NHK Trophy we all do a little celebration because we're so excited to come to this competition in particular. We are very very honored to be here and excited to take home the gold medal.

... It was such a joy to perform for the Japanese audience and we're really happy overall.
Anthony: It's truly an honor to do this at NHK, it was really, really special. We've been off the podium at every Grand Prix just like so, so close to it and to finally crack a podium is special. It's a testament of the hard work that we've put in the past few summers and seasons and I'm really proud to skate with Christina and to share this podium with this table here.
