I’m thinking I missed something here. Is this a skating thread, about the US men? Has someone been seen roaming the dunes at night? If you like making love at midnight in the dunes on the Cape....
Reminds me of the disco song "Fire Island" by the Village People - "Don't go near the bushes..."I’m thinking I missed something here. Is this a skating thread, about the US men? Has someone been seen roaming the dunes at night?
Probably. Yes, exactly. It would not surprise me.I’m thinking I missed something here. Is this a skating thread, about the US men? Has someone been seen roaming the dunes at night?
Ugh! This song has been stuck in my head all day because of your post. And I'm craving a pina colada. If you like making love at midnight in the dunes on the Cape....

Direct link to Haugeto's 1st place FS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvxWeApaWwE&t=4570sKirk Haugeto is a pretty amazing performer, especially for someone so young!
His silver medal winning performance is at 1:16 here:
Agree about Liam's SP. I thought Selevko was overlooked and should have been 5th behind both Kapeikis and Tsuboi of Japan. Oh well, better luck next time. I hope he can have a great FS and still finish high. After the Men's SP at Junior Worlds today:
1 Q Ilia MALININ USA 88.99 48.06 40.93 8.18 8.00 8.43 8.18 8.14 0.00 #30 (3Lz+3T, 3F, 3A, all level 4s)
4 Q Liam KAPEIKIS USA 79.83 43.55 36.28 7.21 7.00 7.39 7.36 7.32 0.00 #12 (3A from spread eagle, 3Lz+3T, 3F) - his previous ISU PB in SP was 64.76 at a 2019 JGP; his Egna Senior SP last week was 71.52 with a 1A
22 Q Kai KOVAR USA 57.69 28.09 30.60 6.21 6.11 6.00 6.14 6.14 1.00 #11 (3A fell out, 3F(!), 3Lz fall)
Liam's great skate (I wish he could have gotten that small bronze medal today) starts here in the SP replay video (#12 of 33 men): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HR-YuUKP0Mg&t=6680s
I think his PCS would have been (deservingly) higher had he not skated relatively early.Liam's great skate (I wish he could have gotten that small bronze medal today) starts here in the SP replay video (#12 of 33 men): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HR-YuUKP0Mg&t=6680s
Seems there’s an interview on this board somewhere and Raf says he doesn’t know if he has the energy to go to another Olympics as a coach but he would at least be Malinin’s mentor.By all appearances at Jr Worlds, I don't think Raf is quite ready to retire...
Not only was he there as Stephen Gogolev's primary coach, but he was at the boards along with Ilia's dad during practices and the FS, and posing with them during the press conference.

Yeah... It looks fully rotated to my eyes too. Even with the step out on the landing, the points it would get would be insane. I think the interview with Raf post-Jr Worlds indicated that Ilia's landing the flip and loop in practices but they weren't ready for competition this spring. I expect we'll see one or both added to his competitive programs next season. I could see Ilia going for a 4A in an early fall competition, just to see if he can land it and have it ratified, then focusing on getting the other jumping elements consistent in his programs. You beat me to it. Holy sh*t. Looked fully rotated to me. Even standing it up in competition would be a huge points-getter. Strategically, I think Ilia would be better to work on adding the flip or loop, though, as well as repeating the quad lutz.

Junior got a (fairly generous) q on the 4a at US Nats this year.Artur Jr's jumps looked pretty unreliable and messy all-around. Did he really have any plausible 4x attempts? Was anything caught on video? Congrats to Ilia -- that huge height into the 4x is incredible!
