The Voice - Fall 2018

BTW-I've been feeling for weeks that the background music and singers have been overpowering some of the artists and that was apparent again tonight. Has anyone else noticed this or am I just hearing things? I feel like the sound has just been off ever since they started the live shows.

I've noticed it!!!! It drives me crazy because I can't imagine that they can't find a good sound person. You couldn't hear poor Sarah Grace during part of her duet with Chris.

 at some notes of Kirk's song. Maybe it's me, but he sounds so awful!

^^^^I'm very glad to know that it's not just me! They need to fix that before the finals next week. :yikes:

And I didn't think Kirk was all that great either and I LOVE that song so it really bummed me out. I feel like he oversang it and I really don't enjoy when artists oversing something.

Well, I actually enjoyed Chevel tonight! :)

I don't think Reagan will make the final either. I think she's lost her confidence over the last few weeks. Last week's debacle probably didn't help either.

I can't begin to predict the final 4. Reagan was shaky & visibly nervous, Kirk & Kennedy were mega pitchy to my ears, & Kymberli oversang. I didn't like Sarah Grace's solo choice but she sang it well & her duet with Chris was #1 IMO. My favs were Chevel & MaKenzie & surprisingly (to me) Chris. I thought Kymberli acted like she was in a battle during her duet & didn't try to make it a pleasing performance. I don't think the iTunes results will be the top 4, at least I hope not. I do want MaKenzie in the finale:

#4 Chevel
#5 Kirk
#11 Reagan
#12 Kennedy
#15 Chris
#18 MaKinzie
#49 Sarah Grace
#102 Kymberli

I’m guessing the order above is why we’re getting.

I haven’t been watching the voice for long, second season, but this season is very meh to me.

Almost everyone has had pitch problems or lack of performance skills.

I’d want Sarah, Mackenzie, Kymberly and Chris in the final 4.

Not getting it.

I loved Kirk at the beginning, but he’s had consistent pitch issues and seems stiff and disconnected as a performer,

Kennedy has also had pitch issues and to me comes across robotic in her performances.

Regan has had nothing but pitch issues and always seems nervous

Chevel IMO has had the best vocal performances but she seems totally terrified on that stage. I also would never download or buy any of her music.

Oh well. If next season I feel the same I’ll just stop watching.

The lack of constructive criticism on this show also drives me crazy.

Where did this idea come from that you can’t be kind, and helpful and be critical.

I don’t need another Simon Cowell, but praising these singers when they’re off key, closing their eyes for most of the song and stilted as a performer is not helpful or useful to them.

That has always driven me a bit crazy too. But I think the idea is that the critique comes in the rehearsal with the coaches. Maybe? It is very strange to see them praising a performance that sounded horrible. I wonder if they sound better in person.

I recall Simon Cowell saying that things almost always sounded better live. He’d watch the taped broadcast of AI and cringe at some of the performances.

Didn't Jennifer sing last night? Why are we getting her again? Blah...

Kirk, Chevel, Chris all through to the finale.

McKenzie, Reagan and Kennedy singing for the final spot. I really hope McKenzie makes it through, although I think singing first is a disadvantage. I can't imagine Reagan has a chance. I think she'll be dead last.

So two people who’ve rarely sung off key finish 7-8? ‘Mericuh get your ears cleaned.

And I now have no reason to watch the finale next week. I don't really care for any of the singers who made the finale (Kennedi is the only one and she's not enough for me to spend four more hours watching this show). Thanks to all the country voters for freeing up a few hours for me next week to watch some other things before the holidays. Enjoy the finale guys. :)

So I couldn’t watch. Who are the final four? And whose teams are they on?

I actually fine with that final 4, though I’d switch out Kennedy for Mackenzie.

Me too!! I love McKenzie. I think its usually an advantage to go last in those Save situations. It seems that unless the person going last is awful, they usually have the edge.

I wasn't surprised that Kennedy got the last spot. She's been pushed the whole season. I was pleased that Kymberli was eliminated - she was awful on Tuesday plus her song choice was pretty bad too. I wish Kirk & Chris were gone too but expecting Blake not to be represented in the finale is pretty unrealistic, I guess. I don't mind Chris but he is pretty interchangeable with a million other country bar singers. Kirk has been off-key the entire season so I don't understand his appeal. The biggest shock to me was Sarah Grace's elimination. She was the best musician & the most original singer there.

I thought MaKenzie won the sing-off by a lot. Of course she went 1st & Kennedy went last. I fully expected them to take a break after Reagan before Kennedy sang to insure her moving on. She has a good voice but her style is like an old lady plus her last couple of songs have been pitchy. My choice FTW is Chevel even though I'm not a country fan. I just hope the country singers don't cancel each other out. I think she has a real shot at a mega career unlike the other 3. If any of them win we will probably never hear from them again like most Voice winners.

I might be done with the Voice after this season... I am so so sick of mediocre country singers making it to the finale. What I'd really like is a season without Blake, and maybe one without Adam -- I really like Adam but this season he has seemed disinterested from the beginning. Looking forward to John Legend as a judge next season though.

Of course Kennedy got to go last in the finale. I didn't expect anything different. They are really pushing her. Even when she was in the bottom 3 she got to go last. I checked the iTunes top 100 & both Chevel & Kirk had songs from previous weeks. Chevel had 4 I think & Kirk had 3. This week:

#1 Chevel - Broken Hearts
#2 Kirk - Defenseless
#3 Chris - Human
#4 Kirk/Blake
#5 Kirk - I won't let go
#9 Chevel/Kelly
#11 Kennedy - Confident
#13 Kennedy - Love is Free
#15 Chevel - It's a Little Too Late
#23 Chris - Sweet Home Alabama
#24 Kennedy/JHud
#28 Chris/Blake

Kennedy was the only one not in the top 10. However she will probably win, she or Kirk. I don't see Kirk's appeal, I like Chris much better but neither has any stage presence. I thought Chevel won the night.

Loved the JHud/Kelly Clarkson performance.

Not surprised at 4th place, but I am surprised at 3rd place.

And boo to the Round, Round, Round song being performed again. It's in my head forever.... :scream: :scream:

Maybe they are trying to prove that going last does not guarantee winning.

Kelly Clarkson is annoying. She talks too much. She needs to shut up. Being the winner 2 seasons in a row will probably make her even more annoying, rubbing in her winning streak. I know Blake and Adam rubs it in about how many times they won, but they are not as loud as Kelly and do not talk non-stop. It looks like Kelly may be a permanent coach like Blake and Adam as she will be coaching next season again. Joy. I can see more young girls auditioning and wanting to be on Kelly's team next season.

Didn't Bastille, Halsey and Panic at the Disco, Rascal Flatts perform recently on the Voice? I guess Voice has a small pool of guest performers or not many performers want to perform on the Voice.

I’m not that surprised at who won. I think Chevel deserved it. She was the most consistent of the top 4 with the best personality.
I liked Chris and was pleasantly surprised he was in the final 2, but again felt he deserved it. He just needed more energy and an engaging personality.
Can’t say I was surprised that Kennedy was last since she was in the bottom last week.
She’s an incredible singer but is kinda robotic and almost too slick and rehearsed. She doesn’t come across as authentic to me.
I WAS surprised Kirk was 3rd, but he was pretty inconsistent. I also not sure there isn’t racism a bit there .
The south, where country is the most popular is known to have huge issues with systemic racism. And I’m not too sure how big of a country music fan base the African American community has. I liked him a lot in the blinds, but he rarely matched that throughout the season.

I picked Chevel from the beginning. The country artists are the only ones who have had a good career post voice. Some are doing well. Chevel csn do very well with the right songs and good videos. She is exactly what is hot in country music right now. She needs a good agent and to hook up with a good songwriter ASAP

I loved the Round Round performance. All 4 of them sounded fantastic so AFAIC they could have sung the phone book.

I agree with about everything you said except I WAS surprised but very very pleased. This is the 1st time that the top 4 finished in the order that I wanted. And I don't think racism has anything to do with the results. Kirk had a clear path from the beginning, his voice is amazing, but either nerves or performance skills (or lack thereof) did him in. And there were several problems with Kennedy: she mostly performed diva songs which pointed to the type of album she would put out plus as you said she was robotic. If you're going to do Whitney or Mariah you have to sound as good as them or change up the song in some way which she never did. In addition I often got an entitled vibe from her.

I really hate the fact that they allow voting before the singing starts. That seems to be the trend this year in other talent shows. Even when I have my favs I don't vote till I hear everyone. Then I vote online for whoever sang best & I don't vote for a bad performance regardless if it's my fav. For example I had been voting for Reagan but the week she landed in the bottom 3 she didn't deserve my vote.

^ if only most voters were so fair or skating fans and judges?.
But seriously the way some people were going off about how Kennedy was robbed and was the best singer....

Honestly she WAS IMO the best performer and arguably had the biggest range and best voice, but vocally she was sharp or flat for a majority of her performances at least in part.
