Yes! There are still some good people out there.
Bless them...bless them every one.

Well I'll be darned! In the middle of a football game I just heard a wonderful message for children along with some absolutely beautiful visuals. A public service announcement in the form of a song encouraging love for all people...immigrants, gays, etc. I don't yet know the singer but the title seemed to suggest that 'there is beauty in the world'. The ending theme simply said...Spread Harmony. What a great thought to implant in the minds of children (and adults) who have been bombarded with such ugliness from America in recent months. The children are watching!
:respec:...to the singer.
:cheer2:...to the children.

Couple months back I had submitted an article about my trip to Eastern Europe in 2013 to our local newspaper - the Arizona Republic. I saw it published in the travel section of today's paper. They had informed me on Tues/Wed that it would be published this Sunday. So I had informed my friends ahead of time.

This may be the first time that something I wrote was published outside of a scientific/technical journal. So I am happy. Nice way to start my Christmas Day.

Congratulations, Vash!
Could you provide a link?

Someone who works at that newspaper had posted a link to their travel section couple days earlier. I checked it but didn't see my article there, though I have seen it in the printed copy I picked up today. I will ask her tomorrow for the link.

On a personal note: my oldest grandchild, Aden David Leonard, will celebrate his birthday today. Hard to believe that the families oldest redhead, his 17 month old baby brother is also a redhead, is 9 years old.

NJL (this is the best news I can think of off the top of my head...:)..)

Watched PBS broadcast of Andre Rieu's concert from his hometown in Holland. As usual the ladies were all exquisitely gowned and the men were in tuxedos. He featured the town's huge dance company for a special waltz on stage and all through the aisles. But today I saw something remarkable! Several of the dancers were in wheelchairs dancing with partners who were not. Beautifully gowned ladies and men in tuxedos were waltzing in perfect time with the orchestra and keeping up with the choreography as if they were standing. The audience seemed to be quite used to seeing them but I was amazed! At the end, one of the male partners lifted his lady into the air (wheelchair and all) and executed a wonderful overhead spin. What a sight! :respec:
Of course we'd never be allowed to see anything like this at the upcoming 'coronation ball'...sad to say.

On this PRESIDENT'S DAY, I wish to thank a man who showed us what a real President can do for his country and for the world without any hint of anger, hatred or even a vengeful thought. A decent man whose legacy will be greatly enhanced by his unwitting successor. :HA!:
Happy President's Day to Barack Hussein Obama! :respec:

Meet Patrick Kilonzo Mwalua "the water man" who drives for hours everyday to provide water to wild animals because of drought.

Mwalua spends a few hours driving every day to fill the dry watering holes with life-saving water. Whenever he shows up with a truck of 3,000 gallons of fresh water, the elephants, buffalo, antelope and zebras come to greet him. “There is completely no water, so the animals are depending on humans,” Mwalua tells The Dodo. “If we don’t help them, they will die.”

“Last night, I found 500 buffalo waiting at the water hole,” he says. “When I arrived they could smell the water… They started drinking water while I was standing there. They get so excited.”
