I just have to share this video of a 23 year old young man helping an elderly man go down an escalator. The elderly man was scared to death to go down it. The 23 year old said that he was taught growing up to always try to help people. What an awesome young man he is. <3
23 year old man helps scared elderly man down escalator
It may seem like a something insignificant to spread news about, but it isn't. I've experienced someone just ignoring me when I needed help at a parking lot at the funeral home in my town. I went to a visitation, and had to squeeze my car in between two parked cars. The trouble came when I tried to get out on the driver's side. I couldn't open the door far enough to unfold my walker. I had to slide the walker out of the car still folded. I couldn't open up the walker until after I managed to get to the back end of my car, and I didn't think I was going to make it.
A lady I knew very well saw me as I was struggling with the walker. She suddenly acted like she didn't see me and kept walking toward the funeral home. She could have taken the walker for me so I didn't have to struggle to get to the back end of my car to open it.
I had never experienced that before, and most people have always went out of their way to help me even if it's just opening the door for me at a dept. store. I can get the door open myself, but the majority of the time, someone will open the door before I even get to it. Yesterday before the heavy rains started, I went to get gas for my car. I always go to one particular gas station to get it. When I got out, one of the store clerks came running out to help me pump the gas. She said that her mom had to use a walker and that she was scared I may fall because of the parking lot being wet from the rain. I graciously thanked her because the same thought of falling came to my mind when I first got out of the car.
I also have helped others even though I'm disabled. When I was going for physical therapy in 2013, another lady using her walker couldn't manage to get the door opened to go in. I managed to open the door for her, and we both went in together.
So even someone opening a door for someone can be the biggest help of all. God bless the people that try to help one another. <3
