The Dance Hall 13: When You Dance on the Ice and Your Feet Twizzle Twice, That's Amore

The French Federation has organized an information and discussion meeting led by David Molina on April 9 regarding ISU Ice Dance regulations.

It would be interesting if this is just a French Fed initiative, or Molina is doing it for the top ice dance feds

Hmmm I hope unlike the last ISU dance seminar when he discussed all the various combinations and permutations of latin RD themes (was a bit overwhelming), this one will be a bit more straightforward.

I came here looking for the tea about Shoma Uno and Marin Honda possibly teaming up to compete in ice dance. Nothing?

So far, I've only seen speculation. Anyone got any concrete info?

There was a little chatter about the Marin/Shoma videos in Secret Sources (I don't know why there, since it's not a secret!). No one seems to know for sure yet what their plans are, but it was fun to watch them.

This was what Shoma answered in this article (behind paywall):

—Excuse me for asking this again, but as you’ve been putting so much effort into ice dancing, are you looking ahead to eventually returning to competitions in the long term?

“I’ve actually been asked that quite a lot since our very first performance, and while I’m truly grateful for it, the more we’ve done ice dancing as a couple, the more we’ve come to understand just how difficult and demanding it is. So when people ask, ‘Are you guys still planning to compete as eligible skaters?’—well, I don’t want people to think I’m taking it lightly just because I’ve done ice dancing. Before I started ice dancing, I used to think, ‘What is it? Since there are no jumps, you don’t really fail much, so your true ability really shines through, and it seems stable—you probably don’t get as nervous as in singles.’ But that really isn’t the case at all. If anything, I feel that more than in singles, we can’t afford to fail at all. When I realized that, my respect for the eligible skaters fighting at the top level grew even stronger. And I feel that we haven’t practiced enough yet to be able to answer questions like, “Are you really ready to compete as active skaters?” or “Are you actually going to compete?”—especially since we’ve only been a pair for a short time.

Yes, that's definitely not a secret. And it's not a secret that Jean-Luc Baker choreographed for them. And there is video of them at IAM. It could be that they are working on choreography with Jean-Luc for a show program, but I got the sense it was more than that and I did see a rumor that they were working on the golden waltz. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be doing a golden waltz for a show.

As a big Marin Honda AND Shoma Uno fan….I would love this pairing!
If you haven't seen it yet, check out their Four Seasons performance.

It's definitely not just some quickly put together show program with some singles skaters loosely playing at ice dance moves. And they are posting clips of ice dance practice. So, the quote from Shoma that @ostile17 posted makes sense. It sounds like competing is something that they are exploring but aren't yet sure they will do.

ETA: They have given themselves the cute nickname of Shomarin and have posted some of their practice clips:
