The Dance Hall 13: When You Dance on the Ice and Your Feet Twizzle Twice, That's Amore

I mean that is why I find it hard to feel sorry for them. Are they not 3 time reigning world champions where they fell at least in two of the FDs?

I mean C/B were made untouchable for nearly an entire quad and even got score close to WR with a fall. Maybe if things had been allowed to play out organically it wouldn't be so easy for FB/C to waltz in there.

Well, that Netflix show really needs a follow up, doesn't it? 😉

Congratulations to the medalists! Piper and Paul skated lights out. I did think Chock and Bates were tense and slow again. FB/C's FD is mesmerizing. If the downgrade for the twizzle flub is enough is above my pay grade, but the skating was stunning otherwise IMO.

Sorry for Lilah and Lewis, yay for Italians skating so well and also for Z/K.

They had a fall in their 2023 Worlds FD, which was not on an element and received the required deduction. They did not fall at any other Worlds. They had a fall in their RD at 2024 SA and finished 2nd overall to F/G.

(Meant to post this in here):

I hope the US federation launches an inquiry. Even just from watching the tech tracker:

C/B: OFTW3+OFTM3, no review. DiStW3+DiStM4, review, dropped to M3.
F-B/C: OFTW3+OFTM4, no review. SeStW3+SeStM3, review, no change.

So C/B gets Level 3s but they don't review (knowing how close this will be?!) but when Evan gets a Level 4, it's reviewed.
Versus F-B/C get Level 3s, they flag for review but when Guillaume gets a Level 4, it's not flagged to even double check??

Theoretically possible? Yes. If I wanted to fix ice dance, is this what I'd do? Yes.

Curious if the tech panel knew they'd tied C/B and F-B/C in base value, leaving it up to the judges. Two of whom gave +4 GOE for F-B/C's twizzles after Guillaume fell out of it.

I remember a messup in 2022 Worlds in Montreal, right? The spin, right?
I don't remember that but i'm only semi-conscious right now. They fell on their spin at the 2018 Olys, is that what you are thinking of? They finished 9th. I'm not sure how that is relevant here though, since the original comment in this discussion claimed they've won with a fall two or more times, which is nonsense.

I was at the arena tonight. I'm proud of Madi and Evan for performing so beautifully. I'm thrilled for Piper and Paul getting the bronze. Judging was crap but we all knew it was coming. I hope that Madi and Evan can be proud of what they did tonight and all they accomplished in their career.

I agree that the F-B/C didn't deserve +4 GEO for those TW. But they also got 0, 2 and 3. However "he didn't fell out of it." He closed earlier than her, and that's not a mistake. C&B had some tiny issues too.

IMO, neither of the first 2 couples skated in an impeccable manner. That would be G/P, in my book. But the couple with the best overall skating qualities won. I wouldn't have screamed "injustice" if C/B won either, but I find the results very fair.

Look at what his skate blade does on the ice immediately prior to this. Even if he was fully in control, what you say absolutely is a mistake in synchronicity and should be docked GOE. Their 1st set of twizzles were not in sync either, so at best +3 GOE max.

Other judges grading them 0,2,3 doesn't make the two +4s any less incorrect.

It's all too bad because Guillaume and Laurence are gorgeous skaters and didn't need to be carried like this here and on other elements.
