I just watched Hou Hsiou-Hsien's movie The Assassin (which is definitely not my favorite of his films, but that's a subject for another place) and this piece of music would be fantastic for Aiza Mambekova.

Or a less obscure skater.

I really need someone to skate to the 'Stranger Things' theme lol - there are extended versions out there that aren't bad - I"ll try to add one in soon.
The Red Violin soundtrack is beautiful and I"m sad that hardly anyone has used it since Michelle Kwan.
The best I've seen on this music Giada Russo

Otherwise, I need much more Ravel in the classical choices. I would love someone to tackle the Piano Trio in A Minor but above all Ravel Trio III (absolutely heartbreaking) and his three sonatines.
Also Satie's 6 Gnossiennes are not used enough

I also want Gilles/Poirier to skate on this in full costumes or on this one just to scare the cr... out of the judges :D

More seriously, some programs on John Murphy's music from the soundtracks Sunshine and 28 days later would be great.

Yes! I have performed all of these pieces and they would be amazing for skating. Also Miroirs, particularly Oiseaux tristes:

And Alborada del gracioso:

Ravel orchestrated both, but I prefer the piano versions.

Still holding out hope for the future Deniss Vasiljevs' "Baby Driver" program where he portrays Ansel Elgort's Miles/"Baby".

I always wished skaters would skate to the soundtrack of the french movie Fanfan

Here´s the waltz:

another piece from the movie

I think Fumie Suguri had o short part of the walzt in one of her SPs. I think she was with Stanislav Leonovich at that time. I don´t remember that year... But besides her, I never heard it in figure skating.

I'm still waiting for someone to rediscover the old operettas & their music: The Student Prince, Vagabond King. The Desert Song, Blossom Time, Red Mill, The New Moon, etc., etc..

Maybe Alexandre Desplat's "Shape of Water" original score could have a couple takers over the next couple of seasons.

Kind of related to the topic...

I did not know until this evening that there is an actual connection between Phantom of the Opera and figure skating. The original phantom himself, Michael Crawford, was part of Torvill and Dean's coaching team! He began mentoring them in 1981, and was with them in the kiss and cry as they received perfect 6.0s at the 1983 Worlds (for a program based on a musical in which he starred). From T/D's wikipedia...
Singer-actor Michael Crawford was the fourth member of the team, along with their trainer. He became a mentor to them around 1981, and went on to help them create their 1983 and 1984 Olympic routines, and "taught them how to act".
Probably not why so many skaters skate to warhorse Phantom, but at least there's a link there!! Now if only more would chose his far superior versions of the songs, instead of Gerard Butler's...

Seriously! We need more music from Bananarama, INXS, Depeche Mode and The Cars.

But in another vein, my fave Bette Davis film was on today. It has an epic score by Max Steiner. Apparently, he has been quoted as saying this was one of his favorites. He won an Oscar for it. The title of the movie comes from a Walt Whitman poem, Leaves of Grass.

Now, Voyager
