I think parts of Ravel's Rapsodie Espagnole could work.

We don't get nearly enough Brahms in skating. How about his 2nd piano concerto? Or some of his solo piano music -- Rhapsody #2 in G minor, Six Piano Pieces #2 in A Major

Has anyone ever used Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream?

I don’t know how skatable Brahms’s music in general is, but it’s so unexplored in figure skating that I would LOVE to see someone skate to his music just to see what they are able do with it. Perhaps try some of his pieces that have more of a obvious melody line, like Violin Sonanata No 3 (2nd mvt is just divine), Cello Sonata no. 1, or the violin concerto.

I have this idea of creating a couple of social media accounts (IG and Xwitter maybe?) and tagging skaters when we have specific ideas or throwing out suggestions for specific disciplines. That way skaters in general could follow along and go down the rabbit hole of various music suggestions somewhat anonymously. Thoughts?

The Manfred Symphonies have not been used since Kavaguti and Smirnov and that’s only the time I ever remember them being used, someone should bring that back into action!!

I wish in dance and pairs teams would start exploring tropical music or salsa, or merengue something outside the box of emo that the single skaters overuse as well.

Celia Cruz and Olga Tañón are some artists that explore these genres. I’m open for anything outside of warhorses and emo music.

I'm not going to give a music.
I'm going to give a radio station for research purpose.
Namely FIP.
The most eclectic radio in the world according to its slogan, the best in the world according to the founder of Twitter Jack Dorsey.
It provides endless trails of research as soon as you hear a sound that catches your ear.
Its playlists make the musics (their theme, their genre, their rythm, their instruments, their performer, their original country) "discuss" with one another.
A loong time ago, Karine Arribert said she finds half of her musics listening to the radio while she's falling asleep.
I'm betting she's often listening to FIP in the evening.
Where else do you find modern egyptian music after classic rock, a Bach symphony followed by a rapper having a harpsichord on his track, a song following another who happened to be sung by lovers or rivals, a classical theme then a bossa clearly inspired by a music from the same composer, astonishing tangos which are covers of famous songs, japanese pop songs of the 70s ?
Even the way she assembles her musics is very FIP.
And in similar fashion, FIP rarely repeats itself.
It's the anti-Spotify.

In Ice Dance, I think for an 80s theme RD, a couple should skate to Cyndi Lauper's 'She Bop' cuz I am dying to see how that would be interpreted.



Also for Kaori Sakamoto, she should do some modern medley which incorporates Thomas Dolby's 'She Blinded Me with Science', and at the moment of the voice-over 'Good Heavens, Ms. Sakamoto. Yoare Byuutifull', she can flip her hair at the judges or something

Ahhh, "What Was I Made For" is my favorite song of the year, breathy inhales and all, studio recording or live! I've often thought about a skater skating to it, but more as a swan song for someone in their later years. The opening lyrics of "I used to float; now I just fall down. I used to know, but I'm not sure now," conjures up someone who is going through a rough patch or perhaps a former ingenue who's now being passed over. At least, that's my personal take. Isabeau would do it justice though as her soft style really fits the tone of the music.
