Skating’s Elite Summer Sizzler - a show after US Champs Camp where you can watch US top skaters' new programs

Been some good skates, I love Ambers new program and Max’s program is lovely. Levito having issues and still wearing leather shorts? Her program has some nice choreographic moments in it that are cute. Bradie’s program was lovely as well. Alyssa had nice dress like flames? Smooth skating for her. Season should be interesting for the women

From what I’ve heard Isabeau’s dress is not ready. And that flame dress with Alysa she wore this past summer for touring.

Maxim Naumov seems to be in a good shape nailing jumps under the show light! Hope that he stays healthy and will have a great season ahead.
I wonder if coaching is giving him a new perspective on skating.

To coach you need to go back to basics and break everything down step by step. That can help you cut out the problems in your own skating.

If you don't have time to watch the entire show before the 24 hours are up, but you have time to watch a few programs, USFS has put up videos of the individual programs on youtube. I doubt they'll last any longer than the entire show.

Isabeau posted something on Instagram suggesting that she was going to have a costume inspired by a Sophia Lauren dress. Who knows what she'll end up with. It's still summer. This time last year she was skating a short program she ended up abandoning. The year before she ended up changing programs, too.

Even for the skaters who did do new programs at the Summer Sizzler, I think we'll see a lot of changes. And new costumes. (I'm pretty sure that wasn't Torgy's real costume we saw.)

Christina Carreira was wearing one of Tessa Virtue's old dresses lol

The music has already been replaced on the individual videos. 👎🏻

Ugh. What a horrible practice. People who aren't aware of this must think that the skater's musicality stinks. Some of it is almost laughable.

It's really weird that they have graphics listing the original music.

They didn't replace all of the music, though. I re-watched Max's program (one of my favorites), and I think it still has the original music:

Yes Maxim's is still original. You can hear his skates scratching the ice.
Maybe it's for copyright reasons? Maxim's music is a classic melody but maybe they have to pay to show videos on youtube that include modern songs
But why don't you just download the whole video from youtube so you can watch it whenever you want?

I am not tech savvy and didn't know that I could do that. TBH, though, I probably wouldn't re-watch this show. Most of the skaters did not skate great. It's summer, and they they were skating with spotlights and camera operators on the ice. Some of the programs were new. And it also was the end of a busy week, and some of them had competed at Cranberry Cup just before Champs Camp started. So, for anyone who missed it, don't feel too bad.

Also, some of the programs probably will show up on Instagram with the original music. That happened last week when USFS did the same thing with the music in the Cranberry Cup videos.

That's right. I loved Maxim's new short programm though

Just a note. Someone posted the whole program on YouTube. how long USFS will
allow it to stay up I’m not going to guess but it is right there right now with original music.

And there’s some bad music choices here😂

And the fact that they charged what they did for these tickets would’ve made me mad if I paid for it I was kind of unimpressed which is fully expected at this point in the season

The full show broadcast was still up tonight shortly before 9pm ET so they kept it up a little more than 24 hours. I was grateful as I was out of town last night and on planes all day, so I couldn’t see it on my big TV until tonight.

Does anyone know why Lucas Broussard didn't take part in the summer sizzler? Was he at Champs camp at all? He got 2 Grand Prix assignements. Is he a member of the national team and olymic hopeful?

I was wondering the same thing. Not everyone at Champ's Camp was in the show, but I haven't seen any photos or mentions of him being at Champs Camp. It would make sense that he would be invited. I hope he's healthy. I'm really looking forward to seeing him skate this season. I know he's been training this summer. Both he and Jason Brown have posted videos of him training at the Cricket Club earlier this summer.

He’s in the big group pictures Jason and some others posted so he was there.

Skaters are not required to participate in the Summer Sizzler if they choose not to. It's strictly optional for most - although I'd bet it's much less optional for the most popular and likely Olympians like Ilia, Alysa, Jason, Amber, Isabeau, and Chock/Bates than for someone much more off the radar like Lucas.

It's also important to note that at this point in the season many skaters don't have their programs done, polished, and ready to go. Their programs may not be to the point where they feel ready to perform them publicly. We saw here that quite a few skaters and teams did old exhibition programs for that reason.

That makes sense, but I wonder what would happen if they all decided to participate? The show was already over 2 hours long! Maybe they would be limited to a couple of minutes each.

I haven't heard much about Cameron and how hard he is training. I believe that he was assigned to one Grand Prix, but he may not be a realistic contender for that third spot.

I was wondering if the US Figureskating chose who they want to take part in that show and that it maybe already was the closer circle of olympic hopefuls.... Ilia, Max, Andrew, Jimmy and Jason? They obviously didn't need to show new programs so everyone would have an old programm to show if they were taking part in the show

Honestly I think there's a mix of people they think are closer to the Olympic team than others but also who will draw in people. Andrew made the world team last year and was the only non-Ilia man to medal in a GP. Jimmy Ma is certainly in the mix, but he's also local to the area and thus a draw for people to buy tickets for. Max too for that matter, plus people are invested in his story. I'm not trying to take away from their potential Olympic team-ness, just saying for the men that's probably a larger group than others so they had to narrow it down somehow so I'm not sure I'd read too much into who was in the Summer Sizzler.

I also found it interesting that everyone but Ilia debuted a new program, but some skaters in other disciplines did not. Of course, Jason is close to a sure bet. It is true that Jimmy and Max would be local draws, but they along with Andrew could be the front runners for that last spot.

Since Max is working with Benoid Richaud now I have high expectations for his programs. But so far he got the same competitions Ilia chose so it will be difficult to collect the necessary points for Olympics. The entry list of Lombardia is insane. And Andrew has 2 GP spots so more chances to impress whoever choses the olympic team.
But it's too early for guessing games. I think the most importand competition will be Nationals.... until then I will die of impatience 🤣

Lombardia is going to be very competitive! Nationals will be the most important competition, followed by the GP series. Andrew may have the best shot, but Max will get tons of support and I wouldn't count Jimmy out either. There are also slots for alternates and the world team.

I think maybe you're reading into it too much -- of course, skaters from SCOB would certainly be in the show, but if a skater was not included that doesn't mean they are not an Olympic hopeful. Shin and Nagy were not in the show, and they were selected to compete in the Olympic Qualifier over pairs who were included in the show.
