Kurakova - this funereal dress does not scream Moulin Rouge, but the programme is not a bad fit for her without being cutesy. Moulin Rouge the Musical would be even better. I hope she has fun at the Olympics, and then with whatever comes next.

Another skater who hope for a kind technical panel. It's a good performance, and probably about as well as she can do on the jumps these days.

Kurakova has gone nowhere and she keeps talking about how much Amodio has done for her. I think she still has a charm but those jumps are long-gone as is the skating quality

I really wish that if the skaters insist on putting her hands up over her head and she misses the jump, it would be an extra penalty.


This race to get the feature I think is one of the reasons some skaters do not have consistent jumps because we’re so busy showing we can do fancy things we never got the basics down

Didn't the ISU take out any bonus for this? Some skaters seem to have learned this technique and can't do the jump without putting their hands over their heads.

What is with this rash of Moulin Rouge programs this season???!!! This used to be one of my favorite movies and soundtracks, but enough already!!! It’s been done and done and done…and nobody did it better than Ashley anyway

And all the ending deaths on the ice this season too. If I had a death on the ice ending this year, including Ilia, I would immediately re-choreograph a new ending stat. Yawn!

Even when she does manage to rotate her jumps, Kurakova's GOE is so minimal it isn't helping her at all. Her presentation is stellar though.

Ekaterina has such an effervescent personality, how can you NOT like her? As Ted just said, she's kind of like Kevin Amoyz that way. Her dress was lovely. But, her tech ability just doesn't seem to be progressing to me. I have always liked her but wish she was a better skater than she used to be. I don't see that happening.

I think this is exactly what it is. 5-10 years ago, everyone was doing arms above heads, even little bittys doing doubles. It’s muscle memory at this point and most likely can’t be changed. If you watch some of the lower levels now, there aren’t nearly the same number of kids doing jumps with their arms above their heads. Unfortunately, the ones that grew up learning to jump that way are most likely stuck with it. If it could be easily changed, I imagine quite a few skaters would change their air position.

I love Yoshida, but the rotations have been an issue all season. Amazing that she landed the 3A but then struggled to rotate almost everything else.

Loved Yoshida’s 3ax and her smile on landing it. Too bad the jumps rather unravelled in the middle.

Started out nicely, and then the middle of the program things started getting away from her. Third skater in a row at the mercy of the technical panel.
