Local Singapore article (August 29):
Axel jumps, spirals and spins executed by some of the region's top athletes will take centrestage at The Rink in JCube this weekend, when Singapore hosts the inaugural SEA Open Figure Skating Trophy.
A total of 110 athletes - including 16 from Singapore - from 12 countries including Indonesia, Thailand, Australia and Korea are expected to feature across 10 categories at the event.
Held from Sept 2 to 4, it will be Singapore's first time hosting an international figure skating competition, said the Singapore Ice Skating Association (Sisa) in an announcement on Monday (Aug 29).
Among the Singaporean contingent will be Pagiel Sng, 18, who finished fifth in his SEA Games debut in 2019 and will be skating in an international competition on home soil for the first time.
The Republic Polytechnic Year 1 student, who will compete in the senior men's category, said: "I'm looking forward to putting out two good programmes and reconnecting with some of my international skating friends who will be flying into Singapore to compete.
"During the pandemic given the Covid-19 restrictions, it was a challenge to maintain my passion. I overcame this by making a conscious effort to focus on my skating aspirations. I was also given a new free skate programme choreographed and delivered virtually by a professional choreographer in Canada and my coach in the United States (Robi Chalmers) so as to keep me on track in achieving my goals."

Is anyone else getting a security notice from Chrome when you try to open the results page? I didn't have a problem opening it earlier this week, but now I'm getting the standard notice that the site is no longer secure and may be trying to steal personal information/passwords.

I noticed that yesterday, but whatever the problem was seems to be fixed now.

... I would like to highlight two achievements at SEA Open this week.
Pagiel Yie Ken Sng (Singapore) and Douglas Gerber (New Zealand) achieved the minimum TES for Four Continents. So far, they are the only male skaters from their country having the minimums for 4CCs.

Yu-Feng Tsai landed 3F+2T, 3Lz & 2A in her SP and 5 triples including two 3F, in her FS to win the gold.

Hana Bath won the SP (3Lz+2T, 2A, 3Lo) and went for 3A (called <) in her FS (6.40 base value -1.49 GOE = 4.91 points) and also landed 3Lz+3T (no second half bonus in Novice), but the fall on her opening 2A+1Eu+3S and doubled toe loop at the end cost her the gold.

Jueun Jin landed two 3Lz and one of her two 3F in her FS.

Google Chrome had a security breach on Friday. You should all update all of your browsers ASAP rather than rely on automatic updates.
I did update my Chrome on Friday when I was having the issue, but it continued. Thanks for the info though! I'll update again.

I just discovered that Singapore Ice Skating Association (SISA) created a Twitter account last month to post updates about the SEA Open Figure Skating Trophy that they hosted (includes results & Senior/Junior podium photos, a clip of the Senior men's victory lap): https://twitter.com/FigureSingapore

The Straits Times of Singapore followed up on their preview with a recap article and focused on the home country's Senior men's winner:
Spinning and jumping to the tune, My Name, Singapore's Pagiel Sng made sure the judges remembered his name with a winning free skate on the final day of competition at the inaugural SEA Open Figure Skating Trophy on Sunday. [...]
His victory in his first competition on home soil was made even sweeter as the result also met the minimum total elements score required for the International Skating Union (ISU) Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in Colorado Springs, United States from Feb 7 to 12, 2023. He is the first Singaporean male figure skater to qualify for the event.
The teenager said he "started to overthink" before his free skate programme but his coach Robi Chalmers kept him focused on the big prize as he lapped up the support from the home crowd.
He said: "The atmosphere was electric, the cheers, the clapping, everything brought out so much emotion that I would literally feel tingles through my arms. My dad and all my skating friends were here, it did add a lot of pressure as I did not want to let them down and I wanted to make them proud.
"I feel extremely happy and relieved after I put out two good programmes. I did not expect to get the gold let alone medal but I am happy I did. It means that my hard work has paid off and that even though Singapore is a small and tropical country, we can still compete and do well."
Despite not being able to train overseas with his coach, Pagiel, who finished fifth in his SEA Games debut in the Philippines in 2019, said he had "progressed tremendously and even became the first Singaporean to attempt and land a clean quad of any kind".
Pagiel Sng opened his FS with a 4T attempt (-2.53 GOE = 6.97 points) that was deemed rotated and landed 6 triples, including 3Lz+3T (-1.57 GOE) that he had landed cleanly in his SP - link to the Senior Men's FS protocols: https://seaopenfs.com/results/SEAOT...------FNL-000100--_JudgesDetailsperSkater.pdf

Douglas Gerber (NZL) landed 3A+1Eu+3S (-0.8 GOE) in the Senior Men's FS and a clean 3A in the Senior Men's SP: https://seaopenfs.com/results/SEAOT...------QUAL000100--_JudgesDetailsperSkater.pdf
In addition to the 4CC minimum scores, Gerber also got both of the TES minimums he needed for 2023 Junior Worlds in the Junior Men's event! :respec:
