Kostornaya switched to Buyanova
That’s a weird choice. I understand why she is leaving Tutberidze, because Tutberidze will have youngsters moving up to seniors (unless ISU moves the age of eligibility from next season), but it is not as if Buyanova was so successful in recent years. The last successful skater she had was Danielian two years ago; he was successful one season and the disappeared.

Korstornaya is my favourite to watch. She may never make another world or euro team again or get the 3a back but I hope we still get to see her skate at some internationals in future. I would love it if she switched countries but I doubt she would be released.

I hope she is happy with her choice of coach whether they have politik or not :)

This is a very interesting Twitter thread about the Russian state sponsored trading regiment Eteri uses https://twitter.com/gabbypaluch/status/1498924994373562372?s=21
Which makes comments about Buyanova (or other alternative coaches) not having "success" in recent years pretty ridiculous.

If you aren't willing to use methods like Eteri, how are you suppose to compete?

Her skaters might not be physically ruined before they turn 20 though.

Are they allowed to transfer now?

Yes a very weird choice since that coach pretty much ended the careers of high level talent like Maria Elena polina and did not help nastia as much as we thought she would. Although if you go back and look nastia had really good programs the short time she was at CSKA and skated them well.

If healthy alyona's talent level skating skills and technical level are much higher than the ladies I just mentioned. She will also be the number one lady there by a mile. At TT she was going to be beneath the 3 girls that were at the Olympics plush Dasha and Maya and Sofia. And maybe even little Petro. That's a lot to handle coming off broken hands and a second devastating season in a row.

I have been wondering for several weeks no matter what happens at the Olympics who would leave TT. I thought it could be anywhere between 2 and 3 lladies. I wonder if because of the the suspension from worlds will Anna and sasha even try to come back not knowing if Russia will be allowed to compete next season. I mean I don't think sasha could ever stop hitting 5 guards at the Olympics with hands over her head and obviously Anna can probably never do better than that amazing free skate at the Olympics with her level of quad's technical ability and artistry.

Are they allowed to transfer now?

In theory, not yet. The transfer window was usually April/May, I don’t remember if that included also June or not. But I don’t think anyone would care at this moment. All it means is that the money for her training will continue to go to Tutberidze’s school till the end of the season; if Buyanova is happy to coach her without getting paid for her for the next few months, I don’t think anyone would be causing Kostornaya any problems for switching outside the transfer window.

Well, Sotnikova and Kovtun both had injuries and ended their careers early. The switch to Buyanova is interesting because her husband is Diana's father from an affair. One of those well known secrets

Wow, you would think that after the previous attempt to leave Tutberidze and then coming back a year later, she would have learned. She is clearly a slow learner. It surely wouldn’t hurt her to buy the bloody flowers, to avoid burning bridges behind her. She never knows when she may need Tutberidze in her career, if she decides to do something connected with skating.

Did you actually read what's at the link?

I don't get the flowers tradition. Is not giving flowers to a coach the same as ghosting them?

And Danielian had injury and we haven’t seen him much for two seasons…

When Kostornaya left Tutberidze the first time, Tutberidze was complaining about Kostornaya not working hard during their summer camp. But it could have been because she wanted to leave, so she might not have been motivated to do much work.

Pluschenko was saying that Kostornaya missed a lot of training time. It was attributed to Covid, but was it really just the Covid?

Then she went back to Tutberidze and first she tried really hard (the first few months), but later something was again said that indicated that she doesn’t work that hard. (When she was thanking her coaches on instagram, they asked er to prove it with her actions and not just with words). Ok, towards the end of the season she had two injuries, but they were indicating that she didn’t do enough even before she was injured.

Now she is with Buyanova, will it be any different? It seems to me that there is a pattern.

I will never get over the fact that, when we know what kinds of horrific things Eteri and team are doing to their skaters, a teenage girl in that situation gets accused of erratic and lazy behavior. It's a wonder that she's the only one who's had obvious difficulties. How any of them are able to even function at all is beyond me.

I'm suspicious of Eteri saying any athlete doesn't "work hard." It seems as if the amount of overtraining she demands is ridiculous. Work smart, not longer.

I guess it is equivalent of leaving on good terms (regardless of what you really think about the teacher or coach). It is considered polite behaviour in some countries. And considering how small the figure skating world is, you never know whether your future career will depend on the person you left. Look how Aljona felt she needed to return to Tutberidze a year ago. If she had brought flowers and resisted bad-mouthing Tutberidze, she wouldn’t have to find it so humiliating when she returned.

I understand what you mean about the overtraining, but the bottom line is, if you want to compete at elite level, you need to turn up and train. It is yet another coach who says she has not been training for quite a while.
