Haven't found a picture yet other than Instagram but Meghan is in a black cocktail dress at the Lion King Premiere. Beyonce's dress matches the carpet.

What the bloody hell has Beyoncé got on - it looks like she grabbed the hotel curtain and draped it around her - absolutely awful.

Meghan looked lovely though!!

Kate's dress was fabulous as always

I love the twist at the sleeves and the overall shape and color. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the shape that it creates for the upper body, though. It kind of bothers me because I like everything else about the dress and want to love it but I can't. But I think the top is one those things that might look a lot better in person/when you see it move than it does in pictures.

That's not hotel curtains. It's sleazy low-rent motel curtains. I'm trying to think of what attracted her to that outfit. The horrendous color? The awful shape? Or maybe she found it dumpster-diving. :scream:

I liked Kate's dress but I was not impressed with the workmanship. She probably paid a lot for it but when you make a dress you're supposed to iron the seams so there's no pucker. The seams at the shoulder & at the back on the waist don't look finished to me.

Meghan's was ok but it doesn't look like 3000+ pounds to me. I could make that dress for less than $200.

I like the dress. I'm not sure if it was the right choice for Meghan. I think the waist sits too high and it looks like the fabric cuts into her breasts were the mesh and black fabric meet. If it's supposed to do that, then I don't like the dress.

It was cutting into her neck too.

I loved Kate's dress today. The green thing from yesterday did her no favours (and neither did Meghan's from Wimbledon, no matter what the papers say) but this blue was definitely something I'd wear if I had the money, or a Wimbledon match to watch on centre court....

Loved Kate's blue dress. I thought Meghan and Harry looked fabulous at the premier. Good lord what the
heck was Beyonce wearing, sorry she looked tacky. I wonder who designed that monstrosity?

The puckering at the shouldering doesn't look good, but maybe the fabric is just the type that puckers? I would not know.

So many dresses worn by Royals and celebrities could be made for much less than the original price - copies of such dresses are often made for affordable prices.

Kate does mix in some more affordable stuff as well (here is a recent example), as do Princess Victoria of Sweden and Queen Letizia of Spain.

Bespoke dresses like Kate's green D&G should be tailored to fit, but I've seen plenty of $$$$ outfits with construction issues (especially with the darts) and of course one's body can change over time.

I know it probably speaks to my age but I love dresses and learned very quickly in Samoa that dresses/lava lavas are so much cooler in hot weather than shorts or pants. My husband even loved his ie fatigas (men's formal lava lava). Kate has worn so many lovely dresses - I wish a cheaper version of them was more widely available. I find a nice dress hard to find.

If you scroll down the page whenever they have Kate's fashion in the Daily Mail, several much less expensive alternatives
appear.

Meghan can't seem to comprehend that she can afford a tailor. I doubt it is supposed to fit that way. I like the dress, but as usual, she didn't bother to make sure it was fitted properly so it doesn't look as good as it should.

It also seems dark and boring for The Lion King and for summer. This was a good chance to do something fun and a little more edgy. It is, however, in a breakthrough for Meghan, still appropriate to the occasion so that's something.

I read an article online yesterday that Meghan was more neutral so as not to look like she was competing with the celebs. Apparently both Kate and the Queen have made similar dress choices deliberately to do just that - or so the article stated. Well if Meghan had known what Beyonce was wearing she could have wore something with more colour and still not competed with that monstrosity.

And yet were it to be reported that all her very expensive outfits were also being adjusted by a tailor that would be criticised too.

No idea if she had her outfit tailored or not and I run this risk of showing my ignorance as a non-mother but I imagine that Meghan's body is changing daily at the moment perhaps making it more difficult for every outfit to be spot on perfect on the day. Which is, i understand, completely normal less than 3 months post birth.

I think Princess Sofia of Sweden managed to look pretty good at a dressy occasion even closer to giving birth (Prince Oscar's christening, a little over a month after Prince Alexander was born) but it was a tight fit, too. I certainly wouldn't want to trade places with any royal!

This is why I don't understand the dress choice - why not wear something a bit looser and more forgiving? There are plenty of pretty dresses that would look great at such an event and leave room to breathe. Meghan is beautiful, and she should be dressing for the body that she has.

I thought the dress was a little heavy for a July movie premiere. Would have loved to see a softer, lighter dress isn't so tightly corseted. But in other news, has anyone actually seen The Lion King? The reviews have been scathing.

I saw the original Lion King and don't feel the need for a remake :D

Years ago I worked in a daycare where one of the boys called all the toy lions Mufasas. It was adorable.

Agreed but the looser more forgiving choices have been criticised too... I can only imagine the grief from some quarters if she went that way for something like a premier.

There is loose-fitting and then there's wearing a tent. :shuffle:

UM...................that does not excuse the ill fit.

Everyone makes a bad choice now and then. But that does NOT explain the way the garments fit. These are not cheap clothes she is wearing, and she has access to tailors. I don't get it.

What the H was Beyonce thinking? She knew Meghan and Harry would be there. I would think a bit more comportment was called for. It is not rocket science.

Agreed - just referring to the colour more than anything. Meghan has always struggled with her fits - even before the baby. I don't understand why as she must have access to first class seamstresses and designers. I do understand her body must be changing a lot at the moment due to just having a baby and whether she is breast feeding or not so I'm willing to give her some lee-way at the moment.

I highly doubt that tailoring would result in complaints about cost. Other members of the royal family, male and female, clearly have their wardrobes appropriately tailored without one complaint by the public. In the grand scheme of royal expenses, tailoring is likely next to nothing.

If bad fit were a sudden post-partum problem for Meghan, I'd give her the benefit of the doubt. But the number of outfits the woman has worn (pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and post-partum) that fit properly can be counted on one hand. Her wedding dress wasn't even fitted well.
