Royalty Thread #7: Do They Get Frequent Flier Miles?

The most ridiculous part of that article (and there is a lot of ridiculousness, so that's saying something) is right at the end when he complains on Doria's behalf (and I'm sure she's just thrilled he's dragging her into it) about how she wasn't seated with the royal family at the wedding. Gee, the bride's mother was seated on the bride's side of the church with the bride's friends and family. That's not a snub, that's the traditional seating arrangment. She certainly wasn't abandoned by the royals, Prince Charles made a point of including her several times. And she was sitting alone as the bride's family because the bride's father, the one now complaining about her sitting alone, is such a dumbass and his children are assholes. I really think this man is suffering from some kind of mental illness, and I wish the media would stop encouraging him.

She certainly is gorgeous, a lot prettier than Diana....but no way did she upstage the bride. And I think it’s ridiculous that all roads lead to Diana. They don’t look anything alike, unless you want to count the fact that they are both female.

I agree - I don't see Diana in her at all - not sure why others do really!! And agreed she did not upstage the bride at all - but that's headlines for you

Glad it is just not me. Stunning she is. Looks like Diana she doesn't

William does not automatically becomes Prince of Wales. Charles has to make him Prince of Wales.
He does become Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay when Charles becomes King.

Fat chance that Charles won't make William Prince of Wales when the appropriate time arrives, which btw, I'm sure none of the royals are exactly looking forward to. :drama:

Oh boy with Meghan's Dad and half-siblings. They apparently can not stand seeing Meghan receiving all of this attention on the world stage. Wowza! This is beyond idiotic this point by Meghan's Dad. How relieved Meghan must be that the press were unable to locate her Dad in Mexico until some time after the engagement had already been announced. :yikes: I think sobster Samantha (formerly Yvonne Markle) is behind all this putting nonsense into her Dad's head. I can't see Markle Sr. being the one coming up with complaints about the clothes Meghan is wearing?!

I wonder whether it might have even helped had Meghan went quietly on a trip to Mexico incognito during the dating period before there was a ton of attention being paid to gauge her Dad's state of mind and try to placate him, in advance of an engagement announcement. I think Meghan and Harry knew they were heading for marriage almost from the beginning of their relationship. In the end, I suspect Meghan was trying to let sleeping dogs lay low for as long as possible. Both she and Harry had a ton of good reasons for wanting to guard their privacy in the early getting to kno each other stage of their relationship.

I get the impression that the whining older upstart half siblings became more bitter and jealous once Meghan attained success with Suits in Toronto. But back then, she was still only an increasingly successful actor on a cable tv series that was doing well, but still was not a prevalent topic of conversation worldwide. So no one cared about any of the cast's family backgrounds, and Meghan always spun positivity about her parents and her upbringing on her Instagram. Once Prince Harry entered the picture and the relationship secret was out, it was game over. Samantha began the bitter jealousy charge forthwith, aided and abetted by the reprehensible tabloid media.

Apparently, the lowly media will continue to wring whatever they can out of the terrible Markles:
ET https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idIy7Tuw54o  Yep, Meghan surely isn't happy about all these old childhood photos being so widely released to the public! My goodness!
ABC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxaOX9-WSy8 (interesting comments by Omid Mio Scobie, royal reporter)

Some royal observers have had enough:

Tom Markle: "The phone number I had for her no longer works... I have no way of reaching my daughter..." :duh:
And by this point, you never will!

Her pants were too long, sorry.

Yeah they were for most people, but not for Meghan. ;) Apparently, it's a style. Indeed, Meghan has worn similar wide leg pants, but this is a new low-er length that touches the ground, like some gowns do:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DiEf-xCWkAAFnjX.jpg we can see the tip of one of her shoes peeking out I think

Check out this fairly comprehensive gallery of Meghan's fashion looks, pre- and post-Harry. In September 2014 and in June 2015, Meghan wore similar looks in white wide-leg trousers:

Boy, is Meghan a beautiful lady with a lovely fashion sense!

As far as Meghan wearing a 'pained' smile in any photos  No one is on every second of every day, and that includes anyone in the British royal family too. But for cripes sake, the overly negative analysis of what Meghan is thinking, doing, wearing, and feeling really needs to take a huge timeout!

And, the Prince Louis christening photos are adorbs! Everyone looks happy and in great spirits. Diana PofW is surely smiling down from above. Perhaps little Prince Louis will have dark hair and dark blue eyes. We'll soon find out... It's lovely to see him awake and laughing happily in his mother's arms:

In honor of the centennial of the murder of the Csar and his family, I've been reading Helen Rappaport's "The Romanov Sisters" a detailed look into the lives of Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia.

So far its been a very interesting read. And full of "what ifs", like if Olga would have been allowed, like modern royals, to marry for love, she probably would have not been in St. Petersburg in 1917.

Helen's part of a documentary that has made its way to Youtube (can't link as I'm at work, just type in "lost princesses of russia) about the sisters that gives an overview of their lives if anyone is interested.

Casual elegance. I like everything about Meghan's Nonie trench dress, except the long length. I'm not sure why she continues to go so conservatively maxi length with so many of her outfits. Aside from a few outfits (including the gorgeous Emilia Wickstead garden party LBD) I don't find the very long lengths that flattering on her. Just a bit below the knees or a tad longer looks great on Meghan (e.g., the olive green dress Meghan wore for Prince Louis' christening -- I hope we get to see that dress again, as it has a sexy slit at the center back bottom of the dress). Meghan usually slays in the pants she wears.

The woman accompanying M&H at the Mandela exhibit, wearing the orange-red and blue flower print looks nice and she's showing more leg than Meghan too. :)

Meghan fashion sites always offer affordable alternative brand selections for fans. I like the two alternative trench styles shown on Meghan's Mirror site for $59.90 and $99.00. :D

I love the skirt on the $59.90 version.

I actually prefer the $99 one to the one Meghan actually wore. I like the colour of Meghan's dress but the top part is just too much and swamps her. I think she would have looked so much better in the $99 dress instead.

I must admit I don't know why she seems to have stopped wearing dresses with a length closer to the knee as she could - and does - so easily carry it off. The dress she wore on the overnight trip with the Queen was slightly shorter - but that cape top ruined it for me. I originally liked her yellow dress - still do - but then I found an article with both a picture of Meghan in her yellow dress and Kate in the one she wore to Wimbledon (with a headline of how Kate was copying Meghan - yeah right - like Kate has never worn yellow before ) and realised how much better Kate looked in her dress and the length was the main reason!!

Whilst checking for other pictures of the dress I found articles where Meghan's half sister is once again braying like mad - saying if their father dies she will blame Meghan . And Thomas Markle himself is still talking to the press - saying how delighted he is to have 'forced' the Royal family into silence . Wow, wow and more wow - he really is intent on totally destroying any chance he has of Meghan talking to him and the half sister is still out to make a buck. It must be devastating for Meghan and to be honest if she has a 'pained' smile on her face it is nothing to do with her royal role and all to do with a family who are just Jeremy Kyle material!!

It resembles some of the Ralph Lauren "Safari" dresses he does every summer.
Appropriate for an African-themed event, IMO.
It does resemble this. However, if you were going TO Africa or attending an AFRICA NIGHT party..........ok. But to the museum? Would she wear a space suit to a space museum?

And why did no one tell Meghan that hats are not allowed to be worn in the Royal Box at Wimbledon? Or did she just think it was a good accessory to carry with her? It did look kind of sporty with the bag.

I love the skirt on the $59.90 version.

Yep, I like that too with the side opening. The only thing I don't like is the long belt hanging, which for some reason appears to be a designer style thing these days. Both alternatives would look great in any color too. The $59.90 version is nicely styled too, at a length I think would look nice on Meghan. For now, for some reason she's persisting with covering her legs. By now, I wouldn't think she has qualms about people digging on her skinny gams. I think she carries off all of her lovely attributes exceedingly well. On her body, I don't find her legs odd at all, despite their thinness. It works for her. Strangely enough, both she and Harry have similarly skinny legs, but of course hers are prettier. :D

Meghan's popularity and high profile visibility is definitely making money for a lot of people, including the fashion industry and the British economy. There are freelance journalists who have ripped off writing thin books patched together from stories readily available on the Internet about M&H's romance. In the age of self-publishing on Amazon, this sad low quality trend is possible.

And worse of all, Meghan's sad Markle relations are still bent on leeching off Meghan too (most gratingly of all her Dad, who appears to be listening to his older problem daughter, Samantha Markle). I feel for Meghan, but at least she's well away from these lowly people, whose only aim in life these days appears to be trying to tear her down, cast aspersions and attempt guilt-tripping and blackmail, aided and abetted by the tabloid media:

Oh dear I do not like that grey dress (looks grey to me, not taupe) for the meeting with the dogs. All I can see is her bandeau bra in all the pictures, from the back even. Ruins the silhouette IMO.

It would not do for Meghan to upstage those beautiful dogs! I really do not like the color of the dress, but it put her in the background and showcased the dogs. Probably Meghan and her team of 'stylists' had that in mind when she dressed for the day.
