RIP. What a gift his music was to the world. I especially loved "I Knew I Loved You" from Once Upon a Time in America and Celine Dion singing it. Just beautiful.

Rest In Peace. I loved his compositions for Cinema Paradiso , the Mission, la Califfa - used in my favorite ever Pairs short program

He had the rare distinction of winning the (long overdue) Oscar after being given the lifetime achievement award. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.
This is one of the most beautiful uses of music in film ever

Just saw this news. The first thing that came to my mind was Lady Caliph, used by B&S for their 2002 music. I have a CD of Morriconeā€™s music. It includes many beautiful pieces, including Cinema Paradiso. He was wonderful. R.I.P.

Maia and Alex tweeted about his passing and how his compositions inspire them on and off the ice.
"Rest in peace, Ennio Morricone. An extraordinary composer, whose musical creations for hundreds of films inspire us on and off the ice. Thank you for your gift."

I'll never forget the way Ennio Morricone described music as ā€œenergy, space, and time.ā€ It is, perhaps, the most concise and accurate description Iā€™ve ever heard. We'll truly miss him. This is the Love Theme from "Cinema Paradiso."

Available to enjoy until 9:30 PM, July 25, 2020
Fraser Performance Studio at WGBH in Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Cellist Yo-Yo Ma makes his Global Concert Hall debut with an homage to Ennio Morricone, the legendary Italian composer and conductor who died earlier this month. Morricone thought of music as ā€œenergy, space, and timeā€ ā€” a description that Ma has called "perhaps, the most concise and accurate Iā€™ve ever heard.ā€ Maā€™s recital will explore these themes in an energetic program that brings performer and audience on a journey across space and time, from Morriconeā€™s iconic film scores to traditional tunes from Mongolia and America to Schubert and Bach.

Tickets are available for 9.90 EUR (approx. 11,30 USD). Every ticket purchase will directly support the participating artists through IDAGIOā€™s Fair Artist Payout Model: IDAGIO pays 80% of the net revenue directly to the performers.
You need a free IDAGIO account to purchase a ticket.
