RIP Alex Trebek

BTW, you don't need to put links into a URL shortener unless they have problematic words.
I don't know why I did that one. I don't unless it has one of those words in it. I even sometimes forget to do that till I see that it's not going to make the little paragraph, and I go back and redo it. Or when it's a FB meme, because the link is 3-4 lines long. Please forgive me for causing you so much extra work to read it and comment. I just can't do anything right.

I really liked this guy too.

They should try out more guests hosts though before deciding.

I watched Jeopardy with Michael Richards just twice - Thurs and Fri. I think he did really well. He looked relaxed.

There was an article on how Rodgers prepared for his hosting gig. He said he studied hours of tapes - focusing on how Alex delivered questions, how he responded when contestants had wrong answers, how he would try to put contestants at ease, etc.

Apparently the long time staff on the set were impressed on how prepared he was.

Yeah his voice is kind of flat even in post game interviews

Rodgers is decent — his main weakness is that his speaking voice is fairly flat.
I feel the same way about Rodgers. There's something about his voice that bugs me. I think you're right that it's flat. So far my favorite "voice" is Dr. Oz. I mainly just listen to Jeopardy and I found that when Oz was speaking, I didn't notice one particular thing or another about his voice. it just seemed right and I think that's a good thing. Deep enough to be heard and understood by my old ears, and nothing distracting.

I don't love the tone of his voice, but he comes across as a very likable, personable guy. He also doesn't make the show about him and his personality, it's clear he puts the show and contestants first.

I thought Rodgers was low key, but genuine. Several of the others seem to be trying to be Alex. IMO the show needs to move forward, let a new host or hosts shape the role in their own way. Alex may have been on the show for a very long time, but he was one of a longer line of hosts before him, and now after. The show must go on as they say.

I’m all team Ken. He is a great host and shows his love for trivia without being condescending. Other hosts seemed to cheery to tell someone they were wrong or too fake.

Jeopardy only films 46 days a year?? I mean I know they do multiple episodes on a day, that just makes sense, but wow talk about a cushy job for the host. I assume the crew works other shows when they are not doing Jeopardy (maybe Wheel?).

I like Aaron Rodgers.

I like Aaron Rodgers as well, but one does wonder why LeVar Burton has not yet been given an opportunity to be part of the hosting "tryouts", since there are reports he is interested in doing so.

There are still some guest hosts upcoming

watching this makes me realize two things: I’m a dork and i just have to own that, and i have aged so much since i was first a contestant on @Jeopardy in 2004! I love this game, and will be guest hosting tonight and for the next two weeks.

Anderson Cooper just tweeted this: https://twitter.com/andersoncooper/status/1384286352762572804
As a contestant @Jeopardy is an incredibly fast game. I was surprised that it feels just as fast when you are guest hosting. It flies by! So fun!

I think they generally film a week's worth of shows in one day. So most of the guest host spots it is just 2 days of filming for the two weeks' of episodes.

I read Alex Trebek's book that came out last year (shortly before his death) and he touched on this a bit (not about the crew part so much as his role). The job enabled him to be there for a lot of his kids' activities because of the filming schedule and how it wasn't a really a "40 hour/week job." I think he was on set two-three days a week. (I rented the book from the library so I can't go back and verify.)

Also, I highly recommend his book (And the Answer Is...:Reflections on My Life) to my fellow Trebek/Jeopardy fans. He writes it wasn't meant to be so much an autobiography but more tidbits on his life and thoughts/musings. It was pretty insightful and I read it in two days. He shares a lot of personal photos, too.
