As we approach Fathers Day, I'm thinking of you @Gerry and hoping that things are going relatively smoothly now that @Really is closer to home. Please do something special for yourself this weekend - I'm sure Lee would ensure that you did, if she were more able :)
 
Hi everyone.

Lee continues to do well... She has had a slightly elevated temp and WBC on and off all week, but if there is an infection,her body seems to be managing it without antibiotics. She has been awake, alert, talking well (but quietly, still) and working on range of movement and strength... Good gains, but a long way to go.

She has had some issues from the anticoagulant she is on, but the medical staff is managing those; tomorrow, they are sending her for an abdominal CT to check on some things, so that will give us a better idea of how her recovery from surgeries and infections is progressing.

She is having some visitors, and seems to be enjoying being back in our little hospital. The nurses are treating her well and she has a big, bright room with lots of sun access. We read a few more cards the other Day; she was happy to hear from you, and told me something about everyone as we read the cards. She seems amazed that so many people - you guys, teaching colleagues, and kids/families - are reaching out to support her... she has touched a lot of lives over time, and those lives are touching her back. It is really heartwarming for me to see that.

I'm not sure she really realizes just how long and complex this has been... which is probably a good thing... it's enough that I do. Her job is to get better, to focus on what will be, not what has been. Someday, I will tell her all about it.

We continue to be humbled and heartened by the care of our medical professionals, and by the thoughts and prayers of our friends. I'm thankful beyond words for your support.

Today is Day 208 ... More to come.

Glad she is working hard to train her body to respond to her wishes. It is such an exhausting process to build up strength. I am sure she is sleeping a lot...Pls let us know what they find on the CT. One day at a time. Best to you both.

Slow, steady progress is good.

I hope that Lee's doctors are able to address any lingering medical issues; so, that the news will continue to be encouraging; and her recovery, ongoing.

The two of you are a constant source of inspiration!

WOW!!! Praise the lord and this is such wonderful news to come back to. I feel such relief and I can't even begin to put myself in your shoes Gerry and know what you've through. But still I agree that you deserve some much need sleep and rest because the second phase while being upward might be as tiring on many levels.

My support is virtual but still ongoing and I pray that peace, patience and joy are tightly part of the next steps till the end and onward.
