Good morning.
Over the last week, doctors added an antifungal to her antibiotic regimen; seems the lab picked up a yeastie bug in a urine sample. Don't know if that was the culprit or if the bug killers are making headway, but Lee started talking a bit on Friday and made some other slow progress on the weekend.
She is more alert this morning, had a nice shower and is sitting up in a chair, looking out as the snow falls here in Edmonton. We spent a nice half hour reading through another batch of cards and letters... thank you all so much for these. She has been trapped inside these concrete walls (And sometimes in her own head) for 153 days now... your cards and letters really brighten her day. She gets to think about you, about where you're from, about how you first met online, if you met in person... it gets her out of jail, if only for a moment.
We got the card that a whole bunch of you signed and mailed from Worlds in Finland... we were both moved that even in the midst of an event you all so enjoy, you found a moment to get together and think of her.
I have to say, my wife has some really special friends.
She has started to develop some spasticity in a few muscles which might cause some contracture issues, so tomorrow morning, we will get a consult from the lead specialist doctor with the spasticity clinic, which may lead to some advance treatment for that issue.
As usual, we are thankful for the amazing care she gets every day... She continues to be followed by an array of neuro-specialists, GI team, general surgery team, speech pathologists, hematology team, and is supported by nurses, diagnostic imaging specialists, lab tech's, and therapists.
As many of you have mentioned, everything is connected to everything else.
More to come...
