NCAA Basketball: Conference Championships to First Four to Final Four

 Iona blew a 25-point lead!? Wowsers, the naysayers over their selection will be happy about that [or more angry?].

 "Go Big Blue"? I've not heard that until this year.

:drama: Robbery of Michigan's long-time victory cry "Go Blue!" When will it stop? :sekret: Georgetown fans to begin firing things up with "Go Bigger Blue"

Another thanks for the link. I was impressed with Iona tonight until BYU went to zone.

Also Syracuse star player is out for the tournament?? I was going to pick them for the FF. HHHmmm.

He's not our star player. I'm not sure where that particular media narrative is coming from. He's our starting center and the defensive POY in the Big East so he's a big loss but the nature of the Syracuse team this year is that we haven't had a star player and instead we've had 7 people who are basically starters and a different player has been the star each time. So we're a smaller team without him and we're down to only 6 starters (and 3 true bench players) but we beat two tournament teams without this player in January. A lot will depend on how the rest of the players react and i think we're a lot less likely to win a national title, but we're still capable of making some kind of run. Hard to say what at this point (as with any team).

Good to know--I need to look at the brackets again before I submit them. The thing is I'm such a homer that I always lose. I used to know someone at work who picked by mascot for the NFL pool. She liked bears so she would pick Chicago a lot. I was surprised by how she well she did considering ...

One day a sixteen seed will beat a one. But I will stand on my head if Western Kentucky beats UK. UK is just so strong this year.

:shuffle: While I was living in SEC country (Bama) for four years, it was all about football.

So, needless to say I didn't hear anything about Kentucky.

Many people in the western part of the state might like it. :slinkaway

I'm not so sure about that. I'm in the extreme far west, and almost everyone around here is for UK. We would have had some conflicted people if it was UK vs. Murray State though. I think it'll be more localized to the Bowling Green area. (And I still maintain that if I have to drive 4 hours east to get somewhere, I'm not in real Western Kentucky anymore...)

I'm guessing you've paid no attention to the SEC, trust me UK fans have been saying it for years. #BBN (Big Blue Nation)

I remember saying Go Big Blue when I was a kid/teen. As far back as I can remember, that's what we've been hollering.

We got a little drunk and did a "which mascot would win in a fight" bracket in 2010. Michigan State won.

It's Sparty right? I think he would win easily--both the large and baby Jayhawk seem rounded to me. I would think if they fell they would need help standing again.

This was a long time ago but KU was playing at K-State and the KSU mascot (Willie the Wildcat) was on roller skates. One minute you see the ESPN crew standing up talking about the upcoming game and then in a purple flash they are gone. They panned to the basketball players who could not stop laughing. Willie skated into the crew. Supposedly it was an accident. I was told it made "plays of the day."

We just received some good news about a deal that the Big 12 is cutting with ESPN which may save the league from coming apart. I hope it happens. KU has no control because it is not a football school. We are at the whim of Texas and Oklahoma. I hope this works to their satisfaction.

Well he had to beat more than just the Jayhawk.

I know Syracuse are the Orangemen (right?) I wonder how the 'ell that mascot moves--and I could swear I saw him skateboarding some time ago.
I know it doesn't cover his legs but he is so round. The mascot that gets to me is the Stanford mascot. They are "the cardinal" apparently as opposed to cardinals but the mascot is this goofy looking tree.

Oh and do you remember who your mascot final four were--just curious?
God I love this time of the year.

If Nebraska were to get anywhere near the tournament, Herbie Husker could kick Sparty's ass. The real mascot. Not that wimpy inflatable Little Red who can hardly stand up. He would get killed by every mascot on the planet.

Which makes him, perhaps, more emblematic of the men's basketball team.

So :shuffle: where's yours?

23 minutes to go 'til the deadline, and you haven't joined Tg's contest.

I's in there! I just went back to double check to make sure I didn't have to do something special, and it said I've entered in the maximum number of brackets.

CO State and my former student on television right now! :)

Probably going to get beat, but still cool to see him play!

Oh, der, I had to hit "refresh."

 Your Broken Bracket looks like my Risky Behavior one ... at least the end result w/Sparty over Carolina in the championship game. :40beers: Here's hoping!

T'would be nice! :40beers: I fear that both of my brackets are about to fall to shambles after these first few games regardless.

Why did I pick Montana? :P

Mascot talk: I always thought Wichita State's Shocker looks how someone who has just taken peyote or LSD or mushrooms might see stocks of wheat.

 Peace, love, and amber waves of grain, man.

But then, hopefully, you'd come down from that high before their creepy mascot walked by. :yikes: :scream:

I picked them because one of the commentators on ESPN thought they might be able to upset Wisconsin.

So far, if I listened to someone saying a team could upset another, it has turned out to be a wrong prediction.
