Jeremy Abbott Uber Thread

Jeremy will be taking part in Japan Open again in October and also Carnival on Ice.

I wonder what program he'll use.

He's also going back to Scotland to teach a clinic, so with all his other scheduled appearances , it may be hard to practice for JO....

Yes I mentioned the Scotland trip a few posts ago, and he's be training just fine and I suspect will continue to do so, I have to agree with @dinakt here. :40beers:

Bumping back up for Jeremy's upcoming appearance at the Skating Club of Wilmington's shows on April 6 & 7 in Delaware - event thread in GSD: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...ril-6-7-with-guest-star-jeremy-abbott.103706/

Jeremy recapped the 2018 Olympic Figure Skating ladies' event for @glorybox64's "Coffee and Bars" podcast (1 hour 21 mins.): https://coffeebarspodcast.com/2018/...kating-recap-womens-event-with-jeremy-abbott/
"Listen as Jeremy looks back on his Olympic experiences and talks about what’s keeping him busy today, in addition to offering his candid thoughts on the women’s action."

Aspen Olympians come together to talk experiences (March 6, 2018): https://www.aspentimes.com/news/sports/aspen-olympians-come-together-to-talk-experiences/
As Jeremy Abbott put it, there is no normal trajectory to reaching the Olympics. But when you come from the same community, one that has a drive and passion for athletics like Aspen does, there are bound to be similarities.
"I'm just so lucky to be back and surrounded by these amazing athletes that had a similar journey that I did," Abbott said. "A lot of our stories will actually be very similar because we are all lucky enough to call this town our home."
Abbott, an Aspen-born figure skater who competed in the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics, was one of five local Olympians to take part in a panel discussion Tuesday at the Wheeler Opera House. It was the final Time Travel Tuesdays event put on by the Aspen Historical Society.

This is 33!
It’s been more than 7 months since I have tried a triple axel. This is the first and second attempt. It is truly the best birthday gift I could give to myself!
Glad to see him invited back to perform in Denis Ten's show! :) ETA: Looks like he will reprise his Barber's "Adagio" program with a live orchestra!

The Power of ‘Yes:’ Jeremy Abbott Finds Himself as Busy as Ever Post-Skating by Nick McCarvel: https://usfigureskatingfanzone.com/...nds-himself-as-busy-as-ever-post-skating.aspx
Excerpts:
Throughout this month, he has also performed in Dallas and Vail, and will take part in the Stars on Ice show in Lake Placid over the new year holiday. In January, he has plans to do a show during the 2019 GEICO U.S. Figure Skating Championships in downtown Detroit and then will do his two shows at the end of January in Aspen, one that benefits Parkinson's charities and another partnering with Aspen Gay Ski and its benefactors.
Abbott did both the short and long program for Gracie Gold, while also choreographing Japanese skater Yura Matsuda's free skate to "The Seasons."
"I like that I can give some of my knowledge to other skaters and help them on their path," he said. "Not necessarily mold them in my image but give them something to hold on to and to push themselves artistically and musically forward."
He continued: "I'm still learning as I'm going. My biggest thing with choreography is wanting to teach a good foundation of skating skills…I have struggled a bit with that, thinking, 'This feels comfortable, but why can't I get you to do this?' It makes me want to find them a way to help get the skater there. I want to give them as much foundation as possible, then step back and see what looks good. I want them to look their best while also pushing them forward. It's a balance."

I found a video of Jeremy's "I'll Be Home for Christmas" performed at Bryant Park in NYC on December 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoNiptt2Xps

:cheer: for Jeremy to have been invited back to the full-time cast of the U.S. Stars on Ice tour (13 cities from April 18-May 18). :) He traveled to Los Angeles last month when the Shibutanis were in town to have one of his Stars on Ice programs choreographed by Michelle Dawley - here's a group photo of them & Elladj Balde: https://www.instagram.com/p/BuuZ-4yn6NR/

... I can’t say enough about his beautiful movement quality and love of creativity. This program is dedicated to celebrating his amazing journey and we had such an amazing time diving into the purpose behind each movement.
Jeremy participated in the opening ceremony of Adult Nationals in Salt Lake City, which was streamed live on FB yesterday and can be replayed here: https://www.facebook.com/USFSAdultS...579882761962/2219762388341165/?type=2&theater

Cross-posting from Shibutanis thread:
The first pic is actually Yuka Sato, but I love it.

 Great catch. I wasn't exactly sure that was Maia, but I couldn't tell for sure. And I did wonder because Maia isn't a pairs skater. :p Cool, and very cool that Jeremy and Yuka have skated together in exhibition! :cheer2:

Taking another look, Jere and Yuka appear to be doing a Blues Bros number! Where's a link to the full performance?
https://www.instagram.com/p/BuY1c0hntuz/

I'm guessing from the hashtags in the post that they were performing at a show called "Always Dream," that took place in Hawaii??

In the Facebook stream pf Jeremy's performance to You And I, someone in the audience could be overheard asking another person: "He's so hot. I wonder if he does ice dance?"

I'd loooovvve to perform ice dance with Jereamazin' Abbott!!! Woohoo! :cheer2: What a dream that would be! :swoon:
Alexander Johnson too! :encore:

Jeremy used to ice dance.

Jeremy used to ice dance.

Great! Thanks for that reminder. I think I had heard about that, but I forgot the specifics, since Jeremy's career as a singles skater is more well known and iconic.

Here's Wiki's account:

"Abbott began skating at age two.[13] He began competing at age four after seeing and becoming inspired by Robin Cousins.[13][16] He has competed in three figure skating disciplines. As a juvenile, he competed in ice dancing with Amanda Cunningham from 1995–96 and with Katie Hoffmaster from 1997–98.[16] He competed as a pair skater with Brittany Vise in 1998–99 and Krystal Sorenson from 2001–02.[16]."

Kudos to Jereamazin! :encore:

Thanks to @aftershocks for posting this link in the U.S. Ladies thread after 2020 Nationals:
Jeremy Abbott was a guest on Dylan M's and Asher Hill's skating show on Youtube. :) They discussed 2020 U.S. Nationals, and Jeremy emotionally talked about choreographing Gracie's programs and witnessing her brave comeback, etc.

For his 35th birthday earlier this month, Jeremy was Jordan Cowan's guest on his On Ice Perspectives YT channel (includes new footage from the NYC rinks at Chelsea Piers & Brookfield Place and the Westchester Skating Academy back in 2018 and a SOI rehearsal in 2019):

Javier Raya chatted with Jeremy on June 12th for SkateProud's Instagram Live series and Jeremy shared his coming out story publicly about halfway through:
