Jeremy Abbott Uber Thread

That would be wonderful.

His latest tweets reflect that he is devastated for Mao.
He can surely sympathize with what she must be feeling.

I'd absolutely prefer Jason to go, but Jeremy earned the right to go no question. I hope he and Max can skate well enough to earn back three spots! :)

Hope Jeremy has healed enough to be able to train well for Worlds. Mainly, though, I'd love for him to be able to skate that wonderful short program for his fans in Japan.

Jeremy fell hard in Sochi...bruises do take some time to heal, but all in all, not like he broke a bone, or has sustained a fracture of some sort. Nothing of that sort has been reported. Skaters fall constantly in their training. Quite frankly, as much as I like Jeremy, he needs to pull it together, and compete "balls to the wall" excuse my French, if Worlds is going to be his final competitive event. He loves his Japanese fans, and they love him...so go out there, Jeremy, and leave nothing behind. No excuses. Skate away from this chapter of your career with no regrets.

Do you know if another fan meeting is planned this time? We have gotten some nice videos from them in the past. Such an awesome group of fans there.

I hope Jeremy skates lights out and is pleased with his performances. I am so impressed with how he handled himself in Sochi. I am just happy we get to see more of his skating. Go Jeremy!

I'm sure he's dreaming of ending his career on a Worlds podium. I wish him the best. With the Olympics pressure behind him, this may work out for him.

I dunno, SOI starts right afterwards which means he has to pack for both. I hope having SOI right after isn't a distraction for him

Jeremy skates first in group 5 (the second-to-last group) tomorrow. 7:17pm Japan time (5:17am US Central time)

Hopefully, this will work for him as it did at Nationals in the SP when he also skated first in the group. Maybe it doesn't give him time to overthink and panic.

I wish he wasn't trying the quad triple in the short again. I was hoping he would just skate it for his fans. But, he's still in there fighting. Jeremy doesn't get enough credit for his determination and perseverance.

I also wish he was skating more toward the end of the group. Old habits die hard, and the judges may hold him down for skating earlier. He's been held down in PCS all season.

He's a great skater, and it's too bad he's taking the heat for the US men not doing well over the last quad.

IMHO, skating first works because he doesn't have to deal with skating after Hanyu or Fernandez or anyone.

I enjoyed watching Jeremy's SP at Worlds on IN's On Demand Replay. Except for the fall on the quad (btw kudos for going for it!), everything else was superb. Now I'm crossing my fingers he can skate clean for the FS and help earn (along with Max Aaron) three spots for next year. :saint:

You got your wish (and mine as well).... :cheer2: :cheer: :cheer2:

Jeremy skated a wonderful Free Skate, landed a gorgeous quad, and finished 5th :respec:. With Aaron's 8th place finish, the US earned three spots for next year.

TAKE THAT, ALL YOU HATERZ!!! :HA!: :HA!: :HA!: :HA!: :HA!: :HA!:

I'm really happy for Jeremy that he skated well. His programs really suit him this year, and while I hate the way he interviews, he is a great skater when he's on.

It will be nice for him to go out on a high note, even if it wasn't with a medal.

Absolutely! Jeremy gets the last word on all those critics who claim the US does not need him and the men are better off without him, that his presence does not help USFSA's program at all because he is taking away opportunities for all of the other US men, that he is the only headcase on the US roster, blah blah blah blah blah. Well, guess what? He placed 4th in the LP and 5th overall and largely thanks to him, the US men have regained the 3 spots back for the first time since 2010 when he and Rippon did it. Revenge is sweet! Now Abbott can turn this chapter of his career with his head held high and walk away hopefully to other endeavors in skating where his skills and talents will be more appreciated. He really would make a fabulous choreographer and music editor I believe. Way to go, Jeremy; you were sublime in your final skate!!! CHEERS!!! :encore::cheer2::swoon:

Oh...but if Jason went you *know* he'd have beaten Jeremy. Even with no quad and under rotating his 3 A. Jeremy is singlehandedly keeping poor downtrodden skaters from progressing.

The big qestion is....how can Tom Z get quads on his men.....but they all have competition issues. It took Jeremy to move to another coachto hold a program together....if there was a quad in it

US Men would have most likely got that 3rd spot if Jason went instead of Max. Max was the one that shouldn't have been sent instead of Jason.

I don't know that Jason would have done much different than Max. I think I'd expect him to place somewhere 6-9th. Which is what I expected of Max, and what he did. So yeah, they'd probably get the third spot, assuming Jeremy performed the same (maybe Riverdance stresses him out?) But Max + Jeremy got the spot, so except for Jason sitting at home, it's moot.

I think splitting Max and Jason was fair, if USFS is going for a 'nationals is not the only deciding competition". They had very similar seasons, and Max had a much better season last year. Jason clearly got the better assignment, which makes sense on his nationals placement.

Jeremy set new ISU personal best scores for himself in free skate (166.68) and total (246.35) in his final competitive performance today. :)

They did get 3 spots barely, didn't they? Jeremy was 5th and Max was 8th, so that combined is 13, which is the maximum total they needed to get 3 spots back...

Kudos to Jeremy for slaying those demons. He also improve d internationally as the season went on.

Jeremy did his job and can go out very proud. I am proud too. He is going to continue choreographing, right? Sure hope so.

Thank you, Jeremy - you gave us many of the most beautiful US men's skates ever.
