She had two JGP events two years ago, ended 4th and 5th, which considering the competition within Russian junior ladies is considered a disaster. So last season she didn't get any JGP event. Last season she was 11th at senior nationals. Everyone who placed there above her already has GP events or JGP event, so it seems quite fair that she was chosen.I've never even heard of Mikhailova before. Think this Russian ladies' field might be deep or something?
She also placed 3rd at Russian cup this week with the score of 182.57. Above her was Guliakova and Gubanova, but they both have JGP event so they can't be sent to GP.
