Gymnastics News #21 - Tumbling on to Tokyo

Wait wtf she has a kidney stone and is still trying another new insanely difficult vault at worlds? I mean, I know she works insanely hard to make everything look easy but this is ridiculous...

In one touch warm ups they get to warm up on the actual apparatus they are competing on. They don't do that in the Event Finals here. They just warm up in the practice gym. I hate it. It's just asking for someone to get badly hurt.

Also, I would think practicing in the arena would help them adjust to the lighting, temperature, crowds, etc. on that day.

The change of equipment from year to year needs to stop as well as the no one touch BS. It seems like the FIG goes with the company/scenario that provides the most :bribe: without looking at the quality of the apparatus and not thinking about individual federations ability, insterest, or common sense to provide said equipment to their athletes. Yes there will always be those phenoms that make it work if a floor is made of concrete or if a pommel horse is covered in oil, but the safety of the athletes should be at the forefront instead of the last thing on the list.

Riley gives me Vanessa Atler/Courtney McCool/Jaycie Phelps/Alyssa Czisny vibes. I can just see her doing fine all the way up until it matters and then off the she goes.

Jade is out, WTH? (I am now going to have to go back and read more than two pages of this thread. Sigh.)

This post stuck out to me when you posted, was hoping you weren’t right but here we are, hopefully Riley can perform up to her standards in the team final. This post isn’t a pro McCallum doing AA post, Hurd would’ve also beaten her for the 2nd U.S. AA spot

Riley was very nervous today, not sure how reliable can she be for team final but I cant see her giving too much points to the US squad

Hope she shakes the nerves off

I can't watch at the moment, can someone give me an update on the current Team USA AA standings so far. I've been quietly hoping for Hurd to get the second AA spot even though she doesn't seem to be the gymnast du jour at the moment.

Hopefully this is no longer the Marta Karolyi era, when if a gymnast displayed nerves on the first day of her first ever big international competition, she would very possibly never, ever get a second chance.

I've only had time to watch the vault rotation before Skate Canada starts, but WOW at the Biles. Incredible. Also nice to see Simone and Morgan with a huge hug and lots of chatting afterwards.

And on a shallow note bless Simone for allowing me to see so much Laurent Landi.
