NOO!!! so i'll bet the farm on the American streak being over because Morgan Hurd delivering a clean competition doesn't seem to be possible. I hope Eremina wins the AA now, anything else will mean that the competition was filled with mistakes.

Romanian reserve athlete Ioana Crisan is going to be competing...! Getting word just before the competition begins She will be replacing Ragan and will be rotating with the group to top qualifiers. What a great experience for her!

It may not be enough but Morgan has seemed to put together a good competition - she leads early in the final rotation.

That just saved the meet for me. Congrats to Morgan and the rest of the medalists. So happy for Eremina but even though I'm not a fan, gutted for Mai. I'm just glad the words Ellie Black World AA Champion is not a thing.

HOLYYYYY EFF!!!!!

What a result! They are my two favourites, so I am thrilled for both Morgan and Ellie. I do wish Ellie had won, though - not only because I am Canadian, but because I think it might be too soon for Morgan. This is going to put tremendous pressure and attention on her for the future, which could be very hard considering she's had a lot of consistency issues, is only a first-year senior, and there are two very very talented juniors coming up to the senior ranks in the U.S. next year.

Really happy for Morgan! Tbh, I was surprised she was even named to the World Team. I had zero faith that she would win. As for being too much too soon-that remains to be seen, but she will always be a World AA Champ. I like Ellie Black, but Morgan is a far superior gymnast. I hope Ragan's injury isn't too serious.

Big surprise with Morgan taking the world title! but considering the level overall of this world championships it was for anybody in the top 6 to take it, so Morgan was the most consistent and today she deserved the title

This edition showed it was a Post-Olympic World Championships, with gymnasts coming to the senior ranks, adapting to the CoP 2016-2020, new faces, inexperienced ones, so it is more like a year of transition

Maybe yes, too much too soon for Hurd but she will always be the 2017 world AA champion no matter what

Silver for Black, good for her and bronze for Eremina who saves the cause once again for the russian gymnastics school that somehow still manages to take medals when the horizon is dark, she will be big favourite for the gold in the uneven bars

We will see if event finals will bring many surprises and non favourites taking medals, go Chusovitina!!!

It's gymnastics. There's no guarantee that any gymnast will be around the next week, let alone another year. Their careers are so short anyway.

Was just reading twitter and saw this result. After nationals, I'm surprised but very happy for Morgan. But very sorry for all the athletes who had to withdraw with injuries (both the ladies and the men).

They also look large in comparison to skating's world medals - which always look ridiculously small.

Worlds seem very parallel to Ashley Wagner’s silver medal at worlds? Being just a tad “older” and delivering when it really matters.

I mean that was shocking, but they both medaled previously at Nationals. Hurd has zero national titles or medals at the Senior Nationals and that is just crazy.

Well the main contenders beforehand, Smith and Iordache both withdrew with injuries, and to a lesser extent another contender, Andrade from Brazil (4th in AA at Olympic qualification and a powerful vaulter) also withdrew with injury. So someone that wasn’t a strong favorite before the competition began was going to win anyways.

No absolutely. I just wondered if a situation like that has ever happened before with a gymnast that really had no real big international experience and no Senior National medals to win the Worlds.
