Larissa tore her achilles (per IG) in floor warmups and is scratched from the competition :wuzrobbed :wuzrobbed :wuzrobbed
Well f*ck! She was who I was most looking forward to. I hope she gets well soon. Poor thing.....just so unlucky!

I don't have a dog in this fight anymore. I guess I will check in to see what happens. If Ragan Smith doesn't win now, she probably never will.

I just watched some interviews, and Morgan Hurd has such a winning personality that I hope she learned to control her landings between podium training and the start of competition to get as great of a result she's capable of without mistakes.

It looks like reigning Olympic gold medalist on beam, Sanne Wevers, won't be making the EF finals on beam. She apparently didn't get the D score she was going for. I had a feeling there would be some rule changes after 2016 and that they would make gymnasts do a real acro series to get CR credit.

I haven't had time to analyse the D score, but acro series technique aside she is definitely missing the composition requirement of acro elements in different directions. A mount cannot fulfil this.

She normally does a full twisting flic but for some reason did not perform it here.

I'm gutted for Iordache. She really just has the worst luck.

And I don't know what is up with this floor but it is not a good advertisement for Gymnova.

I read she had planned for a 6.5 D score but received a 5.0. I imagine she didn't get credit for her series, so no bonus for that, plus a missing requirement, whatever that deduction is. Not to mention a few other questionable connections with the leaps.

Wow looks like Locklear will make ub finals at this rate. By far the lowest D score but the highest E.

Yes Ashton will be like 7th or 8th finalist qualifier to uneven bars with 5.50 D but high execution in the 9.00

Ragan Smith had a mistake on bars, not a big one but she struggled in a cast to handstand but still managed the 6.0 D right now she is trailing Morgan Hurd after two events

I wonder if USAG will be done with Mikulak after this.

Watching the U.S. women in qualifying right now. I'm a tad surprised that Locklear is doing both bars and beam.

I hope so, yes the guy is so good lucking and that but hey at this rate after all this years he is one of the most inconsistent american gymnast ever! hey even Alexander Artemev managed to hold his nerve and got an olympic medal, even John Orozco managed to do something internationally but Mikulak??? ZERO

Ashton just fall of the beam

And so does Ragan! FALL!!! oh my...

Morgan Hurd had a scary near miss on the switch leap but she was looking incredibly sharp and focused for most of that routine. I'm starting to think she might have that competitive instinct for this.

How do I post this nicely? Naddour is getting it done and he has a young kid and also works as a realtor in Colorado Springs, CO. What's Mikulak's excuse? I believe Naddour's rings has improved a bit even though he didn't make that EF.

Ashton just fall of the beam

Just saw that. Ragan fell too - she would have probably made the EF easily if it wasn't for that. I think Morgan Hurd should make the bean EF.

Yes Morgan is second at the moment just 0.033 off the first place, Ragan smith with 12.900 is 11th and if she didn't fall would be first overall since the first place right now is at 13.533

How much do you think Morgan's near miss at the end affected her score?

Spoke too soon. However, Mai Murakami leads qualifications ahead of Smith!

Three of the Americans counted falls here. That must be the most for any American team in a very long time. I have a feeling Marta must be livid and will be giving Valeri a call, assuming she's not still in hiding away from all those civil suits.

Mai Murakami qualifies first after the Qualification in the All Around just .001 ahead of Ragan Smith

Smith had a fall on the beam and a near miss at Bars so it seems its up to her to lose the title

Elsabeth Black is third less than two tenths of the lead

Event Finals for the americans:
Vault: Jade Carey
Bars: Ashton Lockelar
Beam: Morgan Hurd
Floor: Smith, Carey

Uhhhh, I was watching the USAG live feed perfectly fine for the first three rotations, and then in the final rotation, it stopped working and told me I was geoblocked. (I'm in Canada.) Anyone else have that problem??

I watched the first rotation and then had to turn hola on to watch the rest. I'm surprised you made it through three rotations before the geoblocking kicked in.

Valeri might even call Marta for advice. Smith and Hurd are exactly the sturdy gymnasts Marta likes, and certainly would have had a method for shoring up their consistency.

I know Smith and Hurd counted falls and will probably do better in the final, but I would not mind at all if Murakami repeated her placement. I find her esthetically pleasing on all four events, and her floor routine is one of the few with watchable choreography.

Speaking of the few gymnasts with watchable choreography, how are the Dutch on FX this year? I haven't seen much of Worlds except for what happened tonight.
