This program and packaging seems very WTF to me from Schild, but I guess for a French skater it makes sense? I would hope for a more Olympic worthy program especially with the Team event exposure.

Schild was much more entertaining and into that programme during the practice. Now it was too careful and well, she did the right moves at the right time. The catsuit she wore in the practice suited that programme better

I suspect Jia will get the ‘she skates like every other Korean woman’ treatment from some, but I find her to have such a presence. Beautiful musical sensitivity and stronger basics than most from her country.

Obviously getting no points on a jumping block supposed to be a combo is going to kill the score.

Well, Jia managed to salvage a combo after popping the lutz to open. She's still going to be buried here and a long ways off the podium by the time this group is done.

During the replays I decided that "bordering" was incorrect. Straight out indecent.

Quality of the basic skating should keep her above Schild even with zero for the pop plus the stalked flip.

Her hit ratio with 3z-3t is way too low for her team to continue to select it as her combo. Make a change!

Shin did well after the initial pop, but, no surprisingly, she looks junior-ish, even compared to the skaters before her who did not skate well.

Elyce’s jumps are as suspicious as Karen Chen’s. The ones she did in the program were among the better ones I’ve seen but I’d still review everything and definitely call the lutz.

Elyce gives nothing with her face. Ever. And she’s looking down a lot of the time as it is.

I thought she had really strong foundations up close at Skate America last year, but the consistency is all over the place and she would’ve had to kill every performance from here to Nationals to even be considered in the picture.

Sadly, don’t get much out of her nor this program.

Obviously problems with the jumps today but Jia really does have some lovely basic skating. Her expression is still kind of not up to the sophistication of that piece but she has something to build on.
