I think Nakai's PCS in comparison to the rest of the top 4 was too high in the FS (SP was a lot stronger performance-wise), and I also think Sakamoto should have won. But big jumps = big PCS is nothing new.

In person, Sakamoto’s program seemed emptier and sloppier than Nakai’s. Nakai moved and expressed very well once you get past the little girl music.

Many people who watched on tv have told me they thought Sakamoto should have won, even that she was robbed.

In person, even without the benefit of the scoring tracker, our row was unanimous that Nakai won. Bigly. Maybe her speed and ease of movement don’t translate as well on tv.

@Private Citizen Thanks for sharing your in-person observations. I thought Nakia’s speed and skating skills translated nicely via the broadcast, but the interpretation looked weaker. Nice to hear that it was more effective in-person.
