I didn't fully post my thoughts here about Fournier-Beaudry & Cizeron, but wow wow wow. That's the type of Ice Dance we've been missing since 2019 - sophisticated, complex, emotional. It's the best program since Papadkis & Cizeron's Tango RD. I could gush all day long.
Every element flowed naturally into one another. There was creativity like in the one foot turns, how guiilame just held that edge around the corner of the rink before they were back in sink, and then Guilliaume twizzles and then they exit in sync. All those extra turns not in unison don't even count, but it gives the element greater impact and makes the program more like art.
The choreographic assisted jumps, where on the second jump Guillaume holds Laurence against him, lowering her slowly and brushing his hand across the face, all to the pace of the music. IMO the best iteration and use of the choreo asst jumps since the introduction of the element.
The diagonal step reminded me so much of PapCiz, how smooth, fast, and big it was. How they just flowed around and in between on another.
The curve/curve combination lift was so surprising, just holding for the music, and then the curve changes and they pick up with the rhythm. And everything after just follows the music's notes and cues.
There's just almost no wasted time in this Free Dance. It's the perfect fit for them as a pair. It's couture. It's art.
I totally agree with
@tony and
@Ka3sha - this is the ice dance we've been hungry for.
