GPdF 2025 PBP - Free Dance “The Chicken Dance”

Fear & Gibson need what, 71 TES to stay ahead? With the GOEs, they're already losing ground, too much I think to do it.

Okay, I like the opening 15 seconds. Then everything gets too frantic for them (her) to keep up with. Sticky in the midline from her and I think it slowed him down, too. The spins directly out of the one-foot pattern are glorious and take ridiculous control.

I respect that they have really amped up the choreography between the elements, because we all remember them going from choreographic element to choreographic element with nothing really between. They've mastered the new rules and will probably be in there for an Olympic medal when all is said and done but I cannot. At all. With the end of this program.

F/G

Basic skating looks miles better than R/A, levels 3 & 2 on one foot turns, French audience sitting on their hands during all the get the crowd involved moments  Tidy and clean

I do love the programme, but they look really slow to me.
Lilah was pretty gassed and fading about half way through. Not full shape yet, unit should they be this early in the season, but not going to help them break 127 for a win today.

Fear/Gibson - Go Kerrs tribute program! A bit too slow in the opening section compared to the music, seemed a bit tentative, but they warmed up as the program went on. It's a fun program and enjoyable to watch. It's good but it won't beat the French (and rightly so), who were a different league technically.

I love this program. It's joy and fun in a sea of ice dance drudgery. It never feels gimmicky to me or cheesy.

And their skating skills continue to improve. There's less buying time in programs. The only awkward and not very smooth transition is to the choreo steps where they just saunter into position, but I really like this FD. It feels so nostalgic too somehow. Really great, and I'm looking forward to seeing this FD 5 more times this season.

F/G first minute seemed very nervy, but second half more attack. The last minute is really lacking for me. Their lead from the RD looks like it might carry them unless the levels mysteriously plummet.

[Enjoy the Men - I'm off to early church commitments]

The one thing missing for me in this Scottish style is the opportunity to use the head and hips that they’ve used to their advantage in their pop and Latin style dances. I kinda like it, but that can’t get FBCiz and they’ll be fighting for 3rd at the major comps.

Literally should've been nowhere near that close, even considering Guillaume's huge mistake in the RD. Beating the 3rd and 4th place teams in the world already.

Medal favorites in October, gold medal favorites by December.

And Fournier-Beaudry & Cizeron win the event despite getting net-negative points for the choreo steps in the RD. (Which they would have gotten 8-9 points for otherwise.)

Yeah, Oly Gold for sure if they are clean.

I liked the Kerrs' Scottish program better.
Agreed.

If you'd asked me four years ago if I thought Fear/Gibson would end a competition within a point of a team including Cizeron I would have laughed out loud. I mean, I love them, and they've improved a heck of a lot, but I'm still always a little surprised to see them in medal contention. Good luck to them!

Chock/Bates need to pull something quite spectacular out of their hats, particularly the RD to gain traction ahead of the FD when they eventually are going head-to-head with FB/C. Full lean into their acrobatic capabilities in the lifts, etc. to draw the biggest contrasts and crowd engagement, and make it as much an argument of personal taste that they can.

It’s early season, they’re skating at home, with a very favourable panel, and clear politicking going on.

I expect coordinated retaliation from other feds who have something to lose.
I mean the 10s are probably overboard but where else should they lose points? They are so much better than the top 3 in the world with this program. And it’s not just the vibes of the program. The elements are quite good already.

I also think there are some revisionists here because she was always known as the much stronger partner in her past partnership, always doing a lot of intricate edgework while he tried to keep up. She didn’t suddenly lose it.
