With Plushenko it was 1st and 2nd at JGP, 4th at JFGP and 7th at JNats
With Tutberidze it was 1st and 3rd at JGP, 3rd at JFGP and 7th at JNats.
Not much better imo... With Panova she won JNats.
Yes, but the aim is to be getting better, not worse or not the same. I think you should also look at her scores. Her marks were not really that high with Pluschenko. Not too low, but with Tutberidze she was in the group of top juniors. With Pluschenko, she was more among the group of ‘average’ juniors (average when considering Russian junior ladies, not average from all over the world.)

How many coaches have taken kids from close to the beginning and brought the bulk of them through a medium-long senior career in the post-figures era where there wasn't a centralized force making coaching decisions, like in the Soviet Union and in China? That is the exception: even Tutberidze, who focuses on younger skaters than most, coaches kids who come with their triples, some trained by her team, but many from across Russia Carlo Fassi took ready-made skaters. Frank Carroll's only skater to win an Olympic gold medal came to his team -- Congemi was Lysacek's main coach while Goebel was still competing -- as a two-time Jr. World medalist and a competitor at JGP/JGPF.

Of the major coaches, Mishin may be the unicorn.

Many skaters attribute their superb basics, whether skating skills or jump technique, to their early coaches: Berezhnaia lauded her childhood coach for her skating skills, not Moskvina, Virtue/Moir got theirs under Paul McIntosh, etc. I think that not having to undo incorrect technique is an often unacknowledged advantage.

Also when a skater is going through a physical transition, whether having body changes, or bone-growth conditions, or recovering from a major injury or illness, or making a coaching change and uprooting, sometimes geographically, even if a net positive, holding water can be an admirable achievement.

My only point is that these girls have been made of iron to put up with Sambo 70, so it's hardly like they aren't going to try to make the best choice for themselves when they change coaches.

You've never read about Plushenko, Trankov or Smirnov's early years have you? Trankov and Smirnov slept in the rink and pretty much scavenged for food. Plushenko was badly bullied by older skaters. Did you ever see how Tarasova or Buianova acted toward Kovtun (not that I didn't want to smack him upside the head myself)? Do you know Tsareva? Panova?

This doesn't change a single thing about the training environment at camp Eteri. ;)

Coaching changes are not always as ominous and drama-filled as most people assume (we see smoke and infer fire) Quite often, a skater simply desires a change of scenery and a clean slate with fresh eyes.

Eteri is not the first coach to succeed by being a tyrant. But

Oh darling, we are talking about Eteri & Co. It is always ominous and drama-filled.

Saying that there might be smoke but no fire regarding Eteri is like saying that she looks like she might have had a few cosmetic enhancements but she probably really hasn't.

There will be others that will make Eteri look like Gidget.

ETA: and why assume I am speaking solely of Eteri?

TEST SKATES OF THE RUSSIAN JUNIOR TEAM WILL BEGIN IN NOVOGORSK ON AUGUST 9

It is noted that this year the juniors will show their new programs to specialists behind closed doors - neither television nor the writing press are accredited due to the quarantine in Novogorsk.

Positive and lovely, no dirt. Looks promising and quite optimistic actually. Sasha is a sunshine, like always. :)

Another Match TV video- Mishina/Gallyamov

Can’t recognize the music they are skating to in the video. Their music choices were described as ‘some dance music’ in the SP and a ‘piece by Soviet composer’ in the LP

Senior test skates will be at Megasport arena, September 12-13 :)
Please say they'll be broadcast again this year. Given the ISU is leaving the GP events up to local broadcasters, Russia is my only hope.

So much for the stories of Eteri forcing 5 quads on Sasha...

New ‘Ice Age’ show will be airing starting from September on Channel 1.
Old cast (Kostomarov, Domnina, Shabalin, Marinin, Drobiazko/Vanagas) + recently retired skaters: Elena Ilinykh, Dmitri Soloviev, Ekaterina Bobrova and Tatiana Volosozhar

I don't like that choice for S&K. :(

It suits them fine enough. The majority is under Smile which is in their wheelhouse and then they rock out under Come Together. Like all of Zhulins FDs. I am curious to hear now what the Gadbois group has in store. Whoopee!

Which makes their previous comments about how much of a completely new style of FD this is for them all the more

I was hoping Zhulin would give them something a little more unique and voidy like he did with Zlobina/Sitnikov a few years back.

Oh yeah. That was great. These two are not those types of skaters.
