Interview with Plushenko (if someone wants to start a new translation thread, please feel free to do so): https://rsport.ria.ru/interview/20180504/1136358649.html

Google translated intro:
Two-time Olympic champion Yevgeny Plushenko in Moscow today with visits - shows in his schedule do not follow, they lie on one another "stacks": South Korea, Japan, Perm ... Without edge and end. Last Thursday, he brought his five-year-old son Alexander to the first start, after which he remembered himself at an early age when talking to RIA Novosti correspondent Anatoly Samokhvalov, shared his thoughts on what made him leave the group, Serafima Sakhanovich, how he reconciled with Maxim Kovtun, what he does in training Adelina Sotnikova, what a breakthrough will make in the next season Valeriia Mikhailova and in what Arthur Dmitriev can outrun Yuzuru Hanyu [quad Axel].

Hanyu NEVER asked Med to do joint show program with him. Oh dear please stop spreading gossips.
It was a question from Russian reporters and Med brushed them off.
that's a silly overreaction... i am Med's fan, and it is not a gossip, and Med and Hanyu doing a joint number, regardless of who asked, is not "evil"... :D. Japanese fans constantly post fan-fotos of Med and Hanyu skating together and expressing wishes to see more.. The interview does not state "who asked", it only lists Med's answer "number with Hanyu? it is not possible (due to geography)".

So far I am leaning towards believing couple of Russian posters on various “inside blogs” who have relevance to the Sambo rink….. they think that “Med will not be training with Eteri because Med was not expecting to compete, at least in this season”, and will be spending time in Japan this summer doing shows....

In the recent Japanese interview Med says she just want to “regain her skating (after injury) and to just be able to skate satisfactory (in English). https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=31&v=KYURU40YT0I

- she said she is returning to Japan to do shows this Summer.

You're welcome! I really enjoy your blog. The first blog post I read revealing your age I had to read it twice just to be sure I got it right!

Awww haha thanks. Nope, I'm still in many ways a typical teenager - obsessed with the Hunger a Games and the Twilight saga, Selena Gomez CDs, and clothes :D

Artur Dmitriev Jr.'s suicidal 4axel attempts to outrun Hanyu? He can't even make it out of Russia:p

He had attemts in last years. I have seen the videos about those. Those weren't good attemt. I'm waiting for yuzuru

Great news! If Raf could get Adam's 3a consistent, he can get anyone consistent.

I'm sure Mariah Bell, Amy Lin, Vivian Le, and Brezina all have hopes this is true. (And Nathan with his triple axel as well). But one thing is for certain . . . it takes more than a summer. Still, it seems like a good experience & challenge for Kolyada.

I think the reason for this being just a short term arrangement may be to see if the personalities and styles are compatible and if the finances can be worked out for a long term arrangement. While he is trying to improve his jump consistency, I hope Misha will not lose his wonderful artistry.

For those who want to find/read the official Russian fed. press release announcing Medvedeva's coaching change (thanks, @Ka3sha!), it's linked in post #289 of her news thread here: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...beridze-for-orser.103921/page-10#post-5359325

ETA from earlier in this thread, ICYMI:

Interview published on April 19:
Interview with Polina Tsurskaya on the website of the Russian Figure Skating Federation:
http://www.fsrussia.ru/intervyu/3704-polina-tsurskaya-ne-nado-nikogda-sdavatsya.html

She talks about how she almost retired from skating in the summer but came back, the past season - her success at NHK Trophy and her regrets for not making the Olympic team, her impressions from watching the Olympic Games and how she is inspired by Aljona Savchenko and Carolina Kostner.

I fear that it doesn't matter who is Polina's coach if she can't get her jumps back. Making it out of Russian nationals to Europeans, Worlds or the Olympics is already a blood bath. We've lost Radionova and Pogo (Tuk's been out of contention since she won worlds) and there are some juniors coming who will be winning. Your life span as a top 3 Russian ladies skater is very short lived. We all saw this coming over the last two quads so it's not as if it should surprise anyone. None of the "coach changes" has ever made a difference in that longevity. I doubt that Medvedeva's will either much as her fans want to believe. The more difficult programs will still beat her at Nationals regardless of who her coach is.

H
Tarasova says Zagitova grew 3cm since Olympics (which is something I wondered about as well, I thought she looked slightly taller here). She also says she needs to eat less. :shuffle:

How can someone be involved in sport for so long and be so dumb to development. A growing body needs more (of the right) food. TT who, herself is morbidly obese, is forever publicly commenting on the weight and eating habits of young women- I remember her flipantly saying the second Satoko hit puberty she would gain weight and never land a jump again. Could someone please tell her to read any book on physical development and STFU?!

Rumors are spreading that Eteri's kicked Polina out, called her vile names and Polina didn't go back to kiss her ass.

Rumors are rumors. Rumors that Med was switching to Armenia were rampant. And false.

Yeah and a couple of weeks ago she was getting programs done and then just up and leaves? Okay. I'm sure Eteri will have another interview soon enough.

ETA: oh and apparently rumors have it that Moris has left as well. That one still needs to be confirmed. Skirda already left a couple of months back (thank goodness).

So do you want them all to just quit or what?

That one reeked of mischievous maneuverings. I can imagine a scenario where someone got bored, wrote an article with a sensational headline that was obviously a half-assed, ill-advised attempt at a misguided agenda.

This entire Russian coaching dilemma… It’s just too bad things unfold the way they sometimes do.

Hopefully, everyone will land on their feet, find their comfort zone, and as much as possible, the ideal training environment.

And to think, no drama, yet :drama: coming from Japan or the U.S.A. … :saint:

(no vile names, just typical Eteri's comments, which all students at the rink are familiar with, and accept as part of the deal, knowing it in advance... including their parents, who call their kids by same "names" when angry at them.. And not that i am in favor of the "fish-market rudeness" or "communal apartment kitchen hags brawls" but it is quite acceptable in Russia in some circles.. :D)

last news: Tsuraskaya is not at Sambo as of last week. There was an argument, which ended with (in a nutshell) "then leave if you don't agree". Tsurskaya left. It is said she'll be training with Buyanova together with Sotskova, but the new coach is not officially confirmed.

ETA: here is www.sports.ru confirmation: https://www.sports.ru/figure-skating/1062939744.html
very short statement, confirming Plolina left the group, on her own free will. no details.

Well it will be interesting to see how the Russian fed scores a skater with a Canadian as a coach.
Good for Polina. I love her jumps. I hope she can stay healthy and make it to worlds next year.

I think there is a great window of opportunity for non Eteri skaters to make up the WC team. Zag is the only remaining Senior with the goods, and her participation is a completely open question at this point. Sorry, but I don't see Panenkova setting the world on fire even if she does go senior. That leaves room for Buyanova's skaters along with a fired up, new and improved Med.
