FIFA World Cup 2018

Belgium lead - and it was a nice goal. And that throws the ITV analysts who were convinced Belgium wanted to finish 2nd!!! Can't say I'm too upset!!

I want a new team to root for but there really aren't any true underdogs left, are there? :( None of the teams left have really excited me either. (Not that Germany excited me. If they had played in a way that would have excited me, they probably would still be playing :P )

Maybe there'll be a break-through team in the next phase :)

Me too as I would rather Colombia face England than Belgium

I'd say Russia are the out and out underdogs in the round of 16!!

Root for Colombia :cheer:
The entire country of Colombia was rooting for Germany in the last World Cup; after Brazil took us out so unfairly #FueGolDeYepes

2-1 Argentina now, Mercado scores.

ETA:57' Pavard equalises.
EtA:64' Mbappe gives France lead... what a great job.
ETA 68' Mbappe scores again (4-2)

What a seriously frenetic match! There were moments of brilliance and moments of inanity, but France deserved the win. It could have been different if Argentina had Aguero from the start, as Messi has continued to be mediocre and needed some help. Portugal and Uruguay have their work cut out to equal that match in entertainment value.

Was out this afternoon so missed what sounds like a humdinger of a match. Uraquay already 1 up against Portugal so Ronaldo and Messi could be heading home the same day.

Lovely goal from Uruguay to take back the lead!!! Still a long way to go in this match however - anything could still happen!!

So the question is will either Messi or Ronaldo return for one final World Cup?! Messi already retired from International competitions but was persuaded to return for one final go at the WC so I doubt it - but Ronaldo is 33 - will he still be top quality in 4 years time?

So France Uruguay is the first quarter final decided!!
