Fall 2024-Summer 2025 New/Returning/Streaming/TV Shows

Started watching The Bondsman on Amazon Prime. I wasn’t sure if I needed a supernatural-horror-gory-action TV show staring Kevin Bacon, but the first few episodes have been intriguing so far.

If you are turned off by demonic and/or gory stuff, I would recommend skipping this.

I really liked The Bondsman but the biggest problem I have with it isn’t the subject matter but that Bacon looks older than the woman playing his mother. LOL

Kevin Bacon (66) is only nine years younger than Beth Grant (75). 😱

I’m liking this series so far. I’m hoping it gets renewed for a second season.

Update: Amazon has canceled The Bondsman after one season.

BOOOOOO!!!!!! 👎

I have Paramount+ too and so I’m also okay with it only being on streaming, but I would be annoyed if I still had cable and was just watching network TV. But it will probably only be like 10 episodes or so, so if I were in that situation I’d subscribe for a month and binge it.

I’m actually looking forward to it. I always liked Tony and Ziva. Looks like Tony trimmed down for this production. I remember him looking a bit pudgier than early on in NCIS and he looks thinner now.

Hmm - might be interesting to see if it shows up on a Canadian network or cable - sometimes they do. For instance, all the Star Trek series of the last decade have been shown in Canada on cable, as did The Jackal, Poker Face and others.

Yeah, he does. Quite a bit, actually. I'm pretty excited about this one too. Tony was always my favorite character on NCIS. The show hasn't been the same without him (or Abby, Ducky, Gibbs, etc. -- the OG crew was the best). Ziva was one of those characters that I loved sometimes, and loved to hate at others. But she and Tony were magic at the peak of their love story. I have high hopes.

Historically a lot of CBS related stuff ends up on Global here. Though I know we have Paramount+ in Canada so I guess it'll depend on what rights can be negotiated.

yes! this weeks episode was lit. I watch it when it drops in a group chat so midnight EST and we were all up for hours

it is. I really enjoy watching it with the group chat im in. I started doing that because I was up anyway and sometimes in the past seasons the cinematography was so dark I needed to ask someone what I just saw.

Now, I’m wondering what crimes Law & Order (and SVU) haven’t done an episode on……😬
Pulling up this old post to say ... none. There are no crimes Law & Order has not done a similar version of. There are a couple of cable channels that run old Law & Order episodes from the 90's and 00's and I usually have that on the TV when there is nothing else on. I swear like every 4th episode I'm like 'hey! I know that crime!', and it's loosely based on some big crime story I remember from that era.

I am enjoying Dept Q but am taking my time. I recently binged “Your Friends and Neighbors” as I wanted a mystery but nothing too dark. And it wrapped up nicely.
Conversely if “I, Jack Wright” does not have a second season there will be several loose threads with this whodunnit.

I’ve been having a good run with Prime shows recently when usually I don’t watch much on there. Overcompensating was a fun ride. I really enjoyed Motorheads and all its teen drama. And now I’m on episode 3 of The Better Sister and am thoroughly engrossed in the murder mystery.

I read an interview recently (don’t remember where) by someone involved in the creation of I, Jack Wight. Apparently it was conceived as a 3 season series with a definitive end. Whether we get the next series depends on BritBox and whether they greenlight 2 and 3.

So……is The Better Sister (Amazon Prime Video) worth watching. Or should I keep skipping it because Jessica Biel is typically meh or miss? 🤔

Coming to Apple....a good filmmaker (Paul Greengrass), good stars (Matthew M, America F) and forest fires: "The Lost Bus."
