I had one a few years ago, and it was rather useless because it kept banging into things, or would suck up something like the edge of a carpet and get stuck. I couldn't control it with the remote because interventions and redirection were constantly required.

Maybe more recent models work better.

I'm also curious how my would react to it. I don't know if he would just stare at it and go "WTF?" or just ignore it and keep sleeping on my bed for 22 hours a day like he normally does.

Yeah. My cat just stared at the thing and went..."WTF?" Cleaning? Not so sure, but it was fun to watch her reaction.
