ETA: Here is Alysa's FS to MacArthur Park Suite

Loved the outfit and the music.

As Christopher Bowman said of Jill Trenary's skate to The Boots Are Made For Walking (by Nancy Sinantra), "Ring-a-ding-ding. Daddy's little girl is all grown up."

Nostalgia buff that I am, I do have a soft spot for Claudia Leistner's cheese-tastic muzak version she skated to at the 1989 European Championships in Birmingham, England.

The Richard Harris version is iconic. I grumbled about Donna’s version but I now admit it’s held up well. And the cake is such a great image!

Even Richard Harris, who is a godawful singer despite being a great actor, could not make the lyrics of this song make any sense. So at least let us have Donna's gorgeous voice if we've got to endure genius like:

"Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again...."

Shakespeare it ain't. :p

Compared to most pop lyrics, it’s at least Alan Ginsburg. :p

🤔 Eric Radford should set "Howl" to music and then give some angst-ridden Men's skater the opportunity to use it in a program.

Olympics.com article (Oct. 16) - Alysa Liu is back: "My perspective has totally changed the way I skate: https://olympics.com/en/news/alysa-liu-back-perspective-totally-changed-figure-skating-podcast
Liu is featured on this week's episode of the Olympics.com podcast, speaking to us one-on-one on a video call she took in her car outside her training facility in the Los Angeles area, where she moved last year to attend college at UCLA.
"I think it was really important for me to experience a different life where skating isn't everything and where I had, I guess, more like freedom to do other things," Liu says on the podcast, which is out now (16 October). "I really enjoy the sport so much... so much more. It's crazy. My perspective totally changed the way I think about it and the way I do skate [now]. It's so different."

I genuinely thought she had gotten that piece of connective tissue behind the top lip and the upper gums pierced. I see people around her age with those piercings a lot at work.

I thought it looked like her teeth were rotting at a very young age... (Sorry. I really do like Alysa.)

Well, I suppose if you change your mind you could putty in the holes. Not like face tatoos which are difficult to remove(?). I have no idea.

I'd be worried about one falling off in the middle of the night and breathing it in and choking on it, or one falling off mid-program and me tripping on it. But I guess I am 👴.

They are glued on just like the brackets for braces so no holes and you don't see skaters chocking or tripping over their braces brackets.

At least the teeth bling like grills are reversible. I shudder to thinkwhat the plethora of (not referring to Alysa) tattoos are going to look like twenty years from now because the expense and pain involved in laser treatment are so high. Then again, I trust that the cosmetic medical industry will invent new technology to reverse the pain involved. Not sure if the associated cost will be reduced as the associated profit might be very lucrative.

My 15-year-old tattoo looks just fine. People who don't have tattoos always talk about how they will look bad when we are older but lots of older people have tattoos that look just fine too.

It's called a "smiley piercing" if you want to look it up.

She has had if for awhile.

First time i remember seeing it was in a "reunited" post with Mariah and Karen at 2023 US Nationals.

And I wonder if those people really think their old skin without tattoos on it will look pretty:lol: :p

I can see it as a warning to be careful about tattoo placement? (which it isn't usually)

Some parts of the body change shape more throughout life than others so being aware of that when you choose a tattoo location is probably worthwhile

This is true. But most people don't put tattoos that will look stupid if a major change happens in places that will have major changes. :D And the ones who do are also the ones who get horrible tattoos or tattoos in another language that don't say what they think they say. ;)
