2025 Skate America Rhythm Dance - Blue (At This Themed Dance)

I still don’t understand the “pattern” part this year😥😥
If we're talking about the Pattern Dance Type Step Sequence, and forgive me if this has been addressed, or if you're referring to something else, but the key word here is 'type'. There is no prescribed pattern that each couple will do, and the sequence is only identifiable by the couple staying in hold, and the helicopter type turns (both skaters with their legs extended at 45° for one full rotation) that mark the end of the sequence. The technical handbook has a limited list of difficult turns that they can use to achieve a level 4, but the specifics are up to each team to decide.

Thanks, that’s exactly what I’m talking about. So, as long as they are touching and end in the turn, that’s a pattern. I’ll start looking for that. 😄

I'm not sure the panels or the skaters/coaches are completely sure what's supposed to happen in the pattern based on the levels we've seen. We've now had 5/6 GP RDs with all the best dancers in the world, and you can count the number of couples who have achieved L3 on one hand, literally: all called L1 and 2 at SA, NHK, and SC. At COC, only Zingas/Kolesnik and Green/Parsons got L3, and at France, Reed/A, FB/C, and LeGacs got L3.

I guess technically "American Woman" is a patriotic song, it's just not an expression of patriotism for America.
If I remember correctly, the Guess Who really wanted to say “Canadian Woman I Like You Better” when they came up with the song on stage shortly after a US tour that they didn’t particularly enjoy.

I’m so moved that our married American ice dance champions are skating to such a patriotic and romantic song as American Woman.

It’s not romantic either - pretty sure @Theatregirl1122 was being sarcastic.
An early version of "Elbows Up" from Canada? Definitely has to have been a sarcastic comment. It is in large part an anti-war song protesting US involvement in the Vietnam war.

Perhaps if Keegan Messing had chosen American Woman to skate to it would have been more acceptable to Canadian fans.

I thought it was obvious I was being sarcastic. It literally had a  at the end.

I also didn’t take Colonel Green’s response as assuming I was serious.
