2025 Skate America Rhythm Dance - Blue (At This Themed Dance)

On the positive side, Chock and Bates look more trained than at CoC, and there are very really nice choreographic moments in this RD. On the other hand, the slowness is plodding through a lot of this. It seemed like this dance was a minute longer than any of the others in this group. She looks amazing as always, and he looks…not memorable.

It’s not delicate; it’s totally inappropriate.
Yes and no. It’s true, she is more cut and less padded this year. Our bodies change over time and she’s at an age where youthful padding fades. As I said above, I’m sure she’s got a good team and isn’t sick; I think becoming more carved is a thing you see with many athletic women in their ‘30s. Not sure I’d go “alarming”, but as an artist, I’d pay good money to draw a female model with her musculature and low body fat.

I'm okay with C/B being in 1st place (was there ever even a nano-second of doubt that they would be) but over 7 points better? No. I don't think so. Strange how, upon review, the panel could find all those extra levels (points) to award to C/B while the points just dissolved into space for L/B. Just things that make you go "hmmmmm."

I had my mute button on a lot during this RD. C/B's score was telling. It was good but it did not really send a message that they are #1 for Oly gold. Not at all. Even at home-cooked GP they are right on level with the Brits. Personally, I think F-B/C will be quite a factor at Oly, I believe they could win the gold, we'll see though how it all works out. Also, I really adore F/G. They are so engaging and they skate for the audience. Makes me glad they improved so much during this quad.

Actually, during C/B's skate, I watched their feet. Evan is great, he really always has been. And I have watched him since way back when he skated with Emily. Madi has always been a lovely skater but sometimes I feel her skills are not quite there. And I agree that their twizzles are close together and usually clean but they never get much ice coverage from them. What I do appreciate about them is their FD choices...my fave is their Alien one. Snake was good too. I want to love them but I just like them. On a side note, I met Madi's parents at 2011 Nats...very nice people.

Skate America has been interesting this year. Feels a little odd to me. And can I say again how much I despise NBC? All these ads and endless talking. I know they have to do it but crap, it was awful.

They were both 4 on the initial call. The pattern step went from Base to level 1. I think L/B were the only pattern step to get a level 2
The Browns also got a L2 on the pattern step.

CarPon, FabAyer and FraForn all received base level. The other 5 teams received L1.

I haven’t watched the event yet, although I’ve seen the scores, but not sure I want to when Twitter is a mess of conspiracy theories regarding CarPon doing poorly.

Just in terms of music, I like C&P’s the best. All bops. 100% Pure Love is such a jam. I hope they can keep up with the music at some point.

I hate when Americans skate to American Woman. But that’s me.

All the women’s hair are just tight ponytails, except Madison. Where are the bangs? Thinking Kristi in 1992 or Oksana 1994. And for the men, where are the Gwendel locks?

Anyways, do C&B and L&L have the same lift? Lifts are a technical advantage the Americans have over the French, so I would have thought they would do more.

And Aqua Net hairspray
Only in the early part of the '90s. I distinctly recall my youth group harassing the eff out of one of our members on a trip to our state convention in 1990 because she had something like 6 or 10 bottles of Aqua Net in her luggage and we were relentless in telling her how all that Aqua Net was going to destroy the ozone layer. By the mid-90s, I feel like Aqua Net had faded in popularity and been replaced by the non-aerosol can-based hair products & sprays.
