It's just been announced that Tina Turner has passed away. She has some amazing songs from the 80s that could be used.
If anyone does "The Best" this year, can we please get it as a Schitt's Creek tribute, incorporating the original Tina version (preferably with David's outfit as inspiration), as well as Noah Reid's arrangement?

Even I was going to say this. She had single hits in almost every year of the 80s:

May she Rest In Peace. 😇

Smart/Diaz gave us a great Proud Mary RD in 21-22. It was fun and flirty and a great vehicle for them.
Yes - I just rewatched it!

Now I’m wondering if Fear/Gibson’s newest RD (or FD) will be a Tina Turner Medley? They’ve given us pop medleys through the years, LOL! I don’t recall a Turner medley yet…instead, LaLa, KISS, Madonna, Sumner/Disco tunes.

Please no. That song is associated with Rugby League here (it was used in a commercial for the sport) and I don't want to associate skating with football.
Shame the Nutbush is a 70s song. An Australian team could have used it if it was 80s. Because the Nutbush is our national dance.
So Nutbush remains a mystery to me. There was a thing in the news about it a couple of weeks ago saying the dance that went with it was some New South Wales Department of Education initiative in the early 1980s, but that was when I was at school and I somehow missed it. When people started doing it at school discos I had no idea what was going on. It still gives me negative associations as a result.

Haha I went to a dance class one night to learn it back in the 70s. Since then I have been the Nutbush Queen. :D

If this originated in grades schools it's probably just PE calisthenics disguised as dance. I'm sure the kids then weren't fooled either.

What the Texas Skate America really needs is for some guy to go out there & skate in drag with his partner to Girls Just Want To Have Fun. Because, really, how can you have an 80s theme without Girls Just Want To Have Fun?

I was thinking more like “Tommy”. Much more my thing than disco. Who wants to tackle TinaTurner’s Acid Queen?
Yeah- I was a teenager in the 70s, and I was never really into disco either-although when I hear it now I occasionally get nostalgic, as it was so ubiquitous back then. But The Who, glam rock, the Eagles, Deep purple, early Queen, Fleetwood Mac, even pretentious prog rock. What's not to love?

“Pretentious prog rock” is still my thing.

I’d love to see someone try some Styx - Renegade, Blue Collar Man, Queen of Spades, are all still great fun.

The last time Boston hosted Worlds, we had the waltz. I think choosing it for a year in a different venue, at least, would be better.
You really think Shawn Rettstatt is gonna gives us a waltz rhythm for the Olympic season? I'd rather repeat the waltz in Boston and get it next season than have to wait much, much longer.

We went and saw that movie as part of a school excursion along with ten pin bowling.

Val/Kazimov will do Top Gun

So far, RD musics are soooo disapointing.
:wuzrobbed
I wish no harm to Val / Kazimov but Mecano ? Radio Futura ? Hombres G ?
Any trace of la Movida ?
Like nothing happened in Spain in the 80s ... :duh:
