Could get behind it if it were one male skater and another several angry male skaters. And Exes/Texas would make a great exhibition with one male and several angry female skaters!

I want this just so I can make new We Didn't Star the Fire verses for every competition it's inwait this is 80s how about the baby boomer song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HC7vThniUBU
Me too! I’m really hoping for a dance team to stretch the boundaries with a ballet from the 1980s…such as the Phillip Glass works cited above. C’mon, Hawayek/Baker or Green/Parsons, who’ve gone the New Age route before!I feel completely disconnected with this theme and might be skipping ID as an entire discipline. A …
Not gonna happen. Best you can expect/hope for is FDs in that vein. They're all smart enough to know that is NOT what the IDTC wants from the RDs this year.Me too! Even though they're not really that similar, this song always makes me think of REM's "It's The End of the World As We Know It" (which is also an 80s song...)wait this is 80s how about the baby boomer song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HC7vThniUBU
I want to cryI'll mostly be 80s-style pop and new wave, I bet. And neon, leg warmers, headbands...wait, I just described Papadakis/Cizeron's "Fame" RD... or Javier Fernandez's "Super Javi" exhibition that he did for what felt like ten years.
The 80s continue to collect more victims and create everlasting residual carnage, eh?I want to cry
Well your reminder sealed it for me - I'll skip ID. I don't recognize most of the songs you people are talking about lolThe 80s continue to collect more victims and create everlasting residual carnage, eh?![]()
Yeah, but at least for me, there's no point in watching only half the competition. I might give it a couple of shots by the time the season rolls by, but with work and all I might just cut my losses if I just plain can't force myself to like the theme.None of this applies to the Free Dance.
Hey, I hear a rocker foxtrot here! Lots of good twizzles in the offing:Not gonna happen. Best you can expect/hope for is FDs in that vein. They're all smart enough to know that is NOT what the IDTC wants from the RDs this year.
I was not happy at all with the street dance theme or whatever it was two seasons ago, because I couldn't relate to the music, but I ended up having a lot of fun watching it. There was a lot more variety with that though than narrowing it down to one decade so we'll see.Yeah, but at least for me, there's no point in watching only half the competition. Well if it's not just the usual 80s pop music type stuff, that really would be interesting. It is possible. The thread is filled with opinions not necessarily what will actually be chosenI was not happy at all with the street dance theme or whatever it was two seasons ago, because I couldn't relate to the music, but I ended up having a lot of fun watching it. Um well looking at the program thread so far we have:Well if it's not just the usual 80s pop music type stuff, that really would be interesting. It is possible. The thread is filled with opinions not necessarily what will actually be chosen![]()
I’ll be online just to drive you nuts!I'm sorry you won't be partaking this coming season. With that established, I guess we can now allow this thread to be enjoyed by people who will watch ice dance this coming season and don't hate this theme too much... or those who actually like it.
Also a Madonna medley of "Material Girl" and "Express Yourself" for Harris/Chan.Um well looking at the program thread so far we have:
Ghostbusters soundtrack
"Never Tear Us Apart" by INXS/"The Wild Boys" by Duran Duran
Music of Prince
Michael Jackson Thriller
Bon Jovi
Well okayThe trend is not real avant garde but it can't be much less exciting than "latin dance."
I guess we all passive aggressively debate each other…Well okayLook at it this way. Say this season were Street Dance. During the Olympics, we got some out of the box stuff like Muramoto/Takahashi doing the Soranbushi with all those references to Japanese dance and folk culture. And we had Papadakis/Cizeron borrowing from gay club culture. Or Zahorski/Guerrero picking Punjabi rap (lol). Now remove the expectations of the Olympics and the "conformist" trend some get into for it, I expect a lot more creativity that way if it were the theme of this season, or the next.
I'd be fine with 1980s during the Olympics. The FDs would all be "serious bizness and Olympic moment" types, so the cheese would have been in good contrast.
Anyway, peace out, yo! Or whatever the mantra was for 1980s was. "Don't eat cocaine cookies or we will bomb you as we passive aggressively debate you, you nasty communists"? Maybe.
Small Town is my favorite. Plus Rain on the Scarecrow, one of the most powerful message songs from that time. That's very nice. But barely counts as 80s.
How about Jack & Diane. Nothing more uplifting than
"Oh yeah, life goes on
Long after the thrill of livin' is gone"
Essence of the 80s for me...
Was Beyond Thunderdome in the 80s or 90s? I can't remember. It's just been announced that Tina Turner has passed away. She has some amazing songs from the 80s that could be used.
If anyone does "The Best" this year, can we please get it as a Schitt's Creek tribute, incorporating the original Tina version (preferably with David's outfit as inspiration), as well as Noah Reid's arrangement?
I’ve liked all the music selections announced by the teams so far.I don’t think most teams are creating programs with the intention of being boring and mediocre.
Shame the Nutbush is a 70s song. An Australian team could have used it if it was 80s. Because the Nutbush is our national dance. It's just been announced that Tina Turner has passed away. She has some amazing songs from the 80s that could be used.

I mean their real goal is to max goes and levels so this is pretty much what I expectedI don’t think most teams are creating programs with the intention of being boring and mediocre.
