The Cactus Classic in Scottsdale, AZ is the first NQS competition for singles & pairs - starting orders/results page: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30663/index.asp
Times listed are Pacific (3 hours behind Eastern).

Cactus Classic livestream: https://www.coronadoproductions.net/copy-of-figure-skating-video

Sean Rabbitt's student, Keira Hilbelink (youngest of the 3 skating sisters), landed her first triple-triple (clean 3T+3T) in competition yesterday to win the SP and her FS is coming up soon in Novice group A: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30663/CAT020SEG023.html

ETA: Keira scored 100.15 in FS (landed 6 triples through flip & two 2A), 149.58 total - really good for Novice!
Her FS protocol: 2A+1Eu+3Sb1, 3F, 3Lo, 3T+2T, 3S, 3T(turnout)+2T, 2A. She skated to a female cover of "What a Wonderful World" and coach Sean was very excited for her! :)

I was too tired to post last night... Wessenberg/Eisenach debuted their Senior Pairs FS to Lecuona's Malaguena and scored 94.25, 147.26 total.

Baram/Tioumentsev scored 99.17 in their Junior FS, 154.34 total, and also kept their FS music from last season. They attempted their first throw triple (loop) in competition - she fell but thanked her partner in her Instagram story "for being very patient with me on this throw!!!" after he had congratulated her in his Insta story with a clip of her first successful throw triple landed in practice earlier that day.

Sonia Baram is skating her Junior FS next (ETA link to the live scores): https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30663/CAT026SEG035.html

ETA that Elyce Lin-Gracey (landed 5 of her 6 triples cleanly including both 3Lz) scored lower here than at the U.S. Junior Team Cup last week in Milwaukee but looks ready to make her JGP debut this season!

Someone to watch in Novice Women FS group B is Cleo Park (landed 3T+3T<, 3Lz & 2A in her SP yesterday).

Another excellent Novice performance today in Scottsdale, Arizona - this time by Cleo Park who won group B with a total score of 144.19, 98.25 in FS, landing 7 triples! 3F, 3Lz+2T, 3T (landed really close to the boards!), 3Lz, 3Lo+2A fall, 3Lo+2T, 3S.

Both Cleo and Keira received 2 bonus points for landing 4 different triples in their Novice free skates today.

Senior Women's FS (final IJS event) is underway now (ETA that the winner, Nicole Park, Cleo's older sister, competed at the Novice level last season): https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30663/CAT030SEG041.html

It's been fun, as always, seeing skaters-turned-coaches by the boards - Derrick Delmore, Ivan Dinev, Jonathan Cassar, Sean Rabbitt, Grant Hochstein & Caroline Zhang, Douglas Razzano (this is his home rink), Themi Leftheris, Chris Pottenger & more!

Keira was awarded the Sylvia Freedman Award, the competition's perpetual trophy for the best freekskate performance in Intermediate to Senior.

Congratulations, Keira!

Not technically a club or NQS competition - the 2022 U.S. Collegiate Championships and Invitational take place July 22-23 in Richfield, Minnesota and the starting orders are posted now: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30680/index.asp

Notable Senior women include defending champ Paige Rydberg & Wren Warne-Jacobsen (both are in ISP), and first timers Ting Cui and Audrey Lu who is returning to singles competition. :)
Ryan Dunk is the Senior men's defending champ - a Fan Zone article about him is posted in the U.S. Men's thread in GSD: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...ason-news-updates.108445/page-90#post-6276491

NQS competitions will be used to select "up to three men, three women and three ice dance teams to represent the United States at the 2023 Winter World University Games. The games, to be held Jan. 12-22, 2023, with figure skating events on Jan. 13-15, will take place in Lake Placid, New York."
For all events, the selection committee will consider the athletes’ three highest scores from the National Qualifying Series.* Athletes and alternates will be determined upon the conclusion of the last NQS event and verification of the national standings.

*Can be substituted by international competition, if assigned to attend by the International Committee.

Not to take this thread OT, but I don't understand why they wouldn't use Collegiate Nats as one of the World U qualifiers, even if it isn't part of NQS. Use the NQS comps too but it seems odd not to include Collegiates for this purpose.

Is this being streamed? It would be great to watch it live!
There's no mention of any streaming in today's preview article:
Nearly 120 competitors are registered to compete at the preliminary through senior levels in singles and solo dance. Forty-eight skaters will vie for titles in the junior and senior women's and men's events, with the opportunity to earn scholarship money based on placement. [...]
New this year, the U.S. Collegiate Invitational is a nonqualifying portion of the U.S. Collegiate Championships open to current U.S. Figure Skating members who are full-time, part-time, recently admitted or recently graduated from a collegiate/university. Skaters can register to compete in short program (juvenile through novice), excel free skate (high beginner through senior), solo pattern dance and solo free dance.

I don't know, but could it be because the judging and technical panels at Collegiates this week don't fulfill the standards required for the NQS competitions?

Well I am completely frustrated. I want to purchase the livestream and can't even register the account. I started almost an hour ago and I am still waiting to receive an email telling me that I've successfully created the account. If I can't even do the create an account tonight, I may just save my money.

ETA that all the events are over at Skate Detroit for today. A notable performance today was Angela Shao's winning Intermediate Women's Group A SP (43.89), landing 3S+2Lo, 3Lo & 2A cleanly! https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30389/SEGM011.html

@maureenfarone I was able to create the account easily enough but then couldn’t access the videos. I emailed the company and in less than 5 minutes Tim sent me a link to tap on for each rink. The video and sound are both good.

No Senior men's event this year
2 Senior men have appeared in today's SP start order: Mark Gorodnitsky (ISR) & Nathan Chapple.
Listed as WD today: Jill Heiner from the Senior Women's SP & the new Junior pair of Olivia Flores/Luke Wang.

USFS tweeted 4 photos yesterday (launching their "NQS Scoretracker!" ;)): https://twitter.com/USFigureSkating/status/1550179392151748613
We’ve got your first set of leaderboards for the National Qualifying Series❗

Is Fitzpatrick new to pairs? I remember him from Nationals last year but he had a different partner, and I don’t remember her. I actually thought the pair elements (minus the death spiral) were decent for a new pair.

Is Fitzpatrick new to pairs?
Yes.

Chan/Howe had a music problem that delayed their start. I'm thrilled that they brought back their 2019-20 debut season FS music to the lovely "Je crois entendre encore" (violin version) from Bizet's The Pearl Fishers!!! :) (that I never got to see at 2020 Nationals)

Kam/Meyh have WD.

ETA link to the SP protocols: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30389/SEGM031.html

More WD from Junior pairs :(: Martins/Felberbaum, Beavers/Kennedy, Smith/Deng.

Yu-Hsiang LI (debuted on JGP last year for TPE: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00111196.htm) is warming up now for an Junior SP exhibition with Nathan Chapple (Gorodnitsky WD from the Senior SP).

ETA:

I missed seeing Maryn Pierce's SP to "Cold Hearted" by Paula Abdul - she was the first skater and won the Senior Women's SP (54.63) - jumps in protocol: 2A+, 3Lz<+3T< fall, 3F-.
Hannah Lofton was 2nd (51.49) with 3F+2T, 2A, 3Lz< fall & L4 steps.
Alexa Gasparotto 3rd (44.74) with high jumps (3S+3T, 3F, 2A all rotated) but low levels, including 1 spin that didn't count.

Chan/Howe WD from the FS at Skate Detroit; both Plazas/Fernandez (102.48 in FS to music from the Marvel Cinematic Universe & MCU themed costumes, 151.08 total) and the Mohkov siblings (101.00 FS to last season's Die Fledermaus overture, 151.02 total) showed some good things in their peformances at this early point in the season - results/link to protocols: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30389/CAT022SEG032.html.

For those who subscribed to the Detroit livestream, a young skater to watch, Jessica Jurka, is coming up soon in Rink B - yesterday she won Novice group A SP (47.79), cleanly landing 3Lz, 3Lo+2T & 2A.

You can follow the live scoring of the Collegiate Nationals Senior Women FS that's currently in progress: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30680/CAT005SEG016.html

ETA that it wasn't a good 3Lo day for Jurka today though she did win her group despite being 2nd in FS. And she had a mid-program dress color change (that I missed seeing, haha) that went from from navy blue to fuschia pink :) in her La La Land program. Pair skater Isabelle Martins is in Novice FS group B in Rink B next.

McKenzie Edwards WD from the Senior event in Detroit because she's skating at Collegiate Nationals in MN. I believe Kori Ade is her coach; however Kori is with her other students in Detroit (eta: whoops, I missed seeing her student Antonio Monaco win the Junior Men's event with 106.96 in FS, 162.41 total) and it was good to see her at the boards yesterday (masked in pink).
Lake Liao, who's in the ISP with Monaco, scored 105.23 in his Junior FS for 2nd overall.

Fan Zone article on the Senior & Junior medalists at the U.S. Collegiate Championships:

Silver medalist Audrey Lu has uploaded her programs, choreographed by Adam Blake, on her YT channel:
SP (landed 3T+2T, 3S, 2A): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyZ3gMqGiSk
FS (landed 4 of her planned 5 triples through 3Lo): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkYypUl2PiU

Does anyone know why they had 2 zero-credit elements (death spiral, comb. spin)? Apologies if it's somewhere in this thread, I did try to find it. ;)

If I remember correctly, he fell out of the side by side spins and I feel like when I was watching something wonky happened on the death spiral. I remember wondering if it would get credit.

Anyone have a schedule for Philly Summer Champs?
Philadelphia Summer Championships club competition (August 3-7 in Aston, PA) starting orders are posted:
Ting Cui plus 5 ISP skaters are listed - Rena Ikenishi & Gwen Bloesch in Senior; Lucius Kananecki (assigned to the JGP in Courchevel), Kirk Haugeto, Mia Barghout in Junior.

The Senior/Junior international comp. must have a separate results page (like the Lake Placid Ice Dance International)... haven't seen anything online yet.

Philadelphia host club's event website: https://iceworkssc.org/events/philadelphia-summer-championships-2/

Finley Hawk 161.94
Alena Budko 161.77*
Paige Rydberg 160.36
Audrey Lu 159.51
Nicole Park 158.19*
Elsa Cheng 158.00
Michelle Lee 146.42*

Hannah Herrera 155.49
Sonia Baram 154.52*
Sherry Zhang 151.93
Mia Barghout 145.91
Lilah Gibson 143.07*
Hawk and Cheng's Senior high scores so far came from the Southport Summer Classic in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin back in mid-June (ditto for Taira Shinohara's and Anthony Mugg's high scores in Junior men) - the results link was never posted in this thread: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30440/index.asp

Also, Sherry Zhang's high score to date in Junior, AFAIK, was 157.40 at the Spring Jubilee comp. in San Jose, CA on May 14 - results: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30450/index.asp
Mia Kalin debuted her Junior FS (scored 117.01) here and Kanon Smith competed both of her programs on the same day - 147.70 when added together.

Will Annis 160.48
Zachary Yaninek 159.30
Anthony Mugg 157.47
Kirk Haugeto 155.87
Kai Kovar 150.90
I believe Kirk Haugeto's Junior high score so far was 157.52 at the Lake Placid FS Championships (results page is linked in post #10 of this thread).

Also of note in Lake Placid was Mia Barghout scoring 104.74 in her Novice A FS qualifying group, landing 5 triples (2A+3T, 3F, 3T, 3S+2T, 3S) - her protocol: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30764/SEGM023.html
She shared 2 clips from her Lake Placid performance in this IG post (first clip is the opening 2A+3T & 3F; last photo is with her coach, Julia Lautowa): https://www.instagram.com/p/CfUEQ1jLT5o/
I believe this FS qualifying performance led to Barghout being added to the ISP and invited to compete in the U.S. Junior Team Cup in Milwaukee.

Jacob Sanchez scored 163.60 (separate events added together) at the Colonial Open in early June - results: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30595/index.asp

haribobo's compilation of Senior & Junior pair scores are posted in the U.S. Pairs thread in GSD: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...iscussion-second-to-none.109779/#post-6279896

It looks like Cranberry Cup International in Norwood (Aug 9-14) is now a singles-only event. It was supposed to have pairs initially, but there are no pairs practices/programs listed on its tentative schedule. (Apologies if this info was already shared and I missed it.)

The Cranberry Open competition, running concurrently in the same arena with the international, does have pairs listed on its schedule.
